Thanks. I've read the thread, and I saw your message. So, I'll post what I'd like to accomplish, and my idea here.
------------------
I'd like to start a series of threads relating the mind, consciousness, and evolution. I'd like to start threads only as needed, so that discussion can be focused (as much as possible) on a limited number of topics. I'd really like to take some of the moderation for it into my own hands (trying to keep people on topic, starting new threads appropriately, keeping the series of threads related and organized by the OP info for each one). I have no idea how many people would be interested to participate, but I'd like to see what happens.
Below is the basic format for the OP of each thread. I'd like to use the contents of this OP for each related thread that I start. It means I'll be editing the OP for each thread, when a new one gets added.
All of this is simply for the purpose of providing structure, assuming that people are interested to discuss. If not, then all of this is pointless. But I'M ANAL and interested in getting somewhere with this stuff.
Let me know if this is OK. Any suggestions or thoughts are welcome as well.
Thanks!
Ben
P.S. This stems from a
message from crashfrog. I'd like to see where we can take this.

This one thread in a series relating the mind, consciousness, and evolution. When studying the mind and consciousness, it is easy to plow winding pathways that lead to dead-ends and confusion. Below are some general guidelines, in order to keep these threads focused and productive.
Here are
Basics
- This is a series of threads; any time we have clearly come to a new topic, I'll propose a new thread for that topic, and (try to) redirect the discussion there.
- This is a "scientific" discussion on mind and consciousness GIVEN the assumption of evolution; debate about "the metaphysical vs. physical nature of the mind" belongs elsewhere.
- I'd like to discuss what the consequences of the evolutionary and abiogenesis assumptions are for consciousness.
As such, I'd like to lay down some
Basic Assumptions
- "Macro" and "Micro" evolution occurred
- There is no God or soul, ONLY biology
- The mind emerges from the biology
