So last night I went out and saw "Constantine." For anyone who has never heard of this movie you can find the plot by clicking the following link - [link] Disney.com | The official home for all things Disney[/link]. Anyways, the movie wasin my opinion great, however I am a big fan of biblical/theological thrillers. My question is, what is your favorite theological thriller? If don't have just one list them all.

C'mon. There's only one answer to this question. Raiders of the Lost Ark. Close the topic, discussion over.

Yes, but it also doesn't have all the good stuff like depictions of angels, demons, heaven and hell.

saw it awhile ago, memory isn't fresh. Anyways lets get this back on topic... listing movies I forgot to list some, so here goes. Because I just saws it and loved it... Constantine. My second choice would be the ninth gate - I love the mystery plots related around religious scripture. I also will throw in The Devil's Advocate, End of Days and perhaps The Order just because it dealt with exorcisms and had demons and angels in it. I konw there is a few extremely good ones I have seen but I just can't remember them at the moment. This message has been edited by Pradu, 02-23-2005 16:11 AM

The Prophecy
The Prophecy (Chris Walken, Eric Stoltz, Viggo Mortensen) was great. The whole pro-human Angels vs. anti-human Angels war on earth was an interesting concept. Walken was creepy as usual and Viggo was a great Satan (as opposed to The Great Satan - the USA).

The prophecy is a really good movie, I agree, Christopher Walken plays that role extremely well. -Stigmata, thats a good one. I just rented that again a few weeks ago, it's got a good storyline. Can't say I have seen Life of Brian, I googled it and saw it was a Monty Python series, a comedy I suppose. I am more into the thrillers with horror or some battle between good and evil.

Keanu's other theological thriller
We musn't forget Keanu's other intense theological thriller, Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey:
Seriously - The film has Bill and Ted traveling through both Heaven and Hell. The depiction of Hell is decently interesting, and we learn that extraterrestials go to Heaven. And, of course, the protagonists remain alive by beating Death at a game of Battleship...

Hah, that is a good one. If you look at the movement of where movies are going - epic battles, mythological characters and heroes of ancient cultures, I think we are going to see a movie based soley on God vs. Satan come out very soon. It will probably contain epic battle scenes against angels and demons etc... As I type this however, I feel that there has been a movie like this or perhaps it's just my imagination. Anyways, I hope a movie like that comes out.

Southpark
Don't forget Southpark: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut. Satan, Saddam, Canada - if that's not epic theology, what is?

Off the top of my head. The day the earth stood still - Classic sci-fi but also presents the idea that god is a constant across the universe. Dogma - Angels on Rampage, lots of other stuff Contact - Aliens, mental trick or God? Let faith decide Hopefully they will make a preacher movie - I want to see the Saint of Killers take out God.

The Saint of Killers, a cowboy with two pistols and perfect accuracy. I suppose, perhaps if they demodernized him it would be a pretty good movie. Dogma was pretty good, again a comedy but just the presence of the religious figure: angels, demons, prophits and so on make for an interesting movie.
