Hebrews 10:26
This topic is an attempt to show that interpretation of scripture, New Testament at least, is not rocket science. It is an interpretation which should be a common interpretation--differing little among those who are believers in Jesus Christ.
Anyone else who does not categorize themselves is also eligible to comment. Lets keep our comments short...2 paragraphs. I will start with the scrip that we did before:
Heb 10:26-31=If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," and again, "The Lord will judge his people." It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
I believe that this scripture is written to believing (Messianic) Jews. Basically, the passage means that once a person has received the Holy Spirit...the impartation of God within them, then if they choose to continue to do things under the guidence of their own vain imagination and will in opposition to God, they then cannot be helped since they have chosen self will over Gods will. A black and white issue. Either listen to God, or listen to your own desires, but be prepared to pay the price.

Any takers?
Some churches use this scripture to "prove" that a person can lose his or her salvation. I have always believed that once a person is "saved" or known by God and who knows God as well, they can never become unsaved.

What about Philipians 1:6 ?
Phil 1:1-6=To all the saints in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons: Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
The reason that nobody can lose their salvation is because nobody earned it.

Re: How hard is it to disagree?
Much of Hebrews has the ring of spin doctoring. For example in Hebrews 10 the whole practice of sacrifice is misstated. One of the key points in the Jewish faith is that sin must be accounted for. The act of sacrifice for sins was primarily one of confession, admitting that you had done something wrong and it had to be accompanied by another act, one of atonement.
Hebrews does not seem to be written to Jews, but to converted Jews. It specifically mentions the fact that they are suffering for the cause and being oppressed for their belifs. It's an exhortation to keep the faith more than anything else.
