This is a shout out to a class I'm currently sitting in on:
COGS 184: The Evolution of Human Cognition
The class takes an embodied approach (e.g. it does NOT take the perspective that all we want to know about the mind is found from the brain or behavior; instead we also study the body as well) (thank goodness!).
There's a list of readings (all "required" readings are from the journal
Behavioral and Brain Sciences, one of my favs). No PDFs are available online, but hopefully those who do not have institutional access might find free copies (we had to buy printed "readers" for the class, so I haven't looked).
The instructor (
Dr. Christine Johnson) is great, and the department (
UCSD Cognitive Science) is one of the best in the world. So if you're interested in the topic, you might want to check this out. Also, since the class is going on now, it's a good time to look through these things and discuss/ask questions.
