There is an interesting prediction by Dr. William A. Dembski about Evolution in the article:
Anonymous (Touchstone Magazine), 2004, The Measure
of Design: A conversation about the past, present &
future of Darwinism and Design. Touchstone,
vol.17, no. 6, pp. 60-65.
In this article, an anonymous Touchstone Magazine interviewer asked:
"Where is the ID movement going in the next ten years?
What new issues will it be exploring, and what new
challenges will it be offering Darwinism."
In response to this question, Dr. Dembski replied:
"In the next five years, molecular Darwinism -- the idea
that Darwinian processes can produce complex molecular
structures at the subcellular level -- will be dead.
When that happens, evolutionary biology will experience
a crisis of confidence because evolutionary biology
hinges on the evolution of the right molecules. I
therefore foresee a Taliban-style collapse of Darwinism
in the next ten years."
Given the virulently anti-evolution stance of the Taliban the reference to the Taliban is a rather strange and rather funny way to defame and slur scientists, who disagree with Dr. William A. Dembski's position on Intelligent Design. One weird image that I received from this reference to "a Taliban-style collapse of Darwinism in the next ten years" was one of Dick Cheney sending the full force of the US military and convoys full of munitions into the universities of the US and the world to remove biologists, botanists, and geneticists from their ivory tower offices as was the Taliban was removed from power in Afghanistan. From this quote, a person can imagine President Bush announcing the bombing of the British Museum as pre-emptive strike to stop the use of "Weapons of Mass Delusion" by evil-doing evilutionists. Dr. Dembski definitely needs to think more carefully about the metaphors, which he uses in his replies if he wants to avoid indulging in unintentional comedy. I suspect that this prediction will be as accurate as the prediction he made in 1998 when he said that ID would qualify for funding from the National Science Foundation by 2003.
