For September, 2005 (as per previous months):
quote: Please post your votes for the September, 2005, Posts of the Month here. Include author, forum name, thread name, post number, eg: Name: Velvet Tongue Forum: Biological Evolution Thread: I'm no monkey Post #: 17
A link to the message, and perhap a SHORT comment would also be nice. But, this is NOT a place to debate the referenced topic - so be nice. I think that a fairly liberal use of this topic would be a good thing for indexing some nice messages that are otherwise doomed to be lost in the clutter. So, if you encounter a message that seems to say something of special substance, please give it a plug/reference in this topic. New month, same old message and routine.

Faith tells it like it is
Name: Faith Forum: Geology and the Great Flood Thread: Attention Faith: Geological data and the Flood hypothesis Post #: Message 6 By laying out her position Faith shows why the EvC debate is ultimately futile. To show what I mean:
Some things are simply non-negotiable and nondebatable from my side of this. God's word says there WAS a worldwide Flood, it is not a hypothesis. The Bible as a whole is not negotiable. A straight reading of Genesis, which is clearly not allegorical, is not negotiable.
I wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then

Let me hand it to Monk
Forum: Coffee House Thread: Help LB save Bush from Katrina Post: #150 I think Monk, like Faith, is a decent writer. That is to say his writing is usually clear and concise. We have always had our differences and so I have had problems with his logic and use of evidence. But one thing I have always admired are people that can (even if slow) accumulate evidence and change their position, especially strongly held opinions. Rightly or wrongly, I have seen Monk as a Bush true believer. At the beginning of the Katrina thread (the other one) he was putting up some sort of defense for Bush. But in this post Monk defies my expectations and provides evidence to skewer Bush. And I think he does it eloquently. My favorite line is that Clinton will always have Monika and Bush will have Katrina. I think that is a pretty damning comparison, and I hope Monk's prediction holds water.

Thanks Jar, I appreciate the feedback. It's nice to flex one's storytelling faculties every now and again.

Crashfrog at "Liberal Media Conspiracy?"
Name: Crashfrog Forum: Coffee House Thread: Liberal Media Conspiracy? Post #: 6 Our Constitution puts us in a bit of a problem, I think. In 1776 the biggest threat to personal freedom was an overbearing, authoritarian government that had not even a token responsibility to its citizens, and the Constitution is designed to protect us from that. These days, the greatest threat to our personal freedom comes not from the government but from private enterprise, and the provisions of the Constitution make it very hard to defend ourselves from, essentially, ourselves. Go there to debate the matter further. Moose Edited to change "Velvet Tongue" to "Crashfrog". This message has been edited by minnemooseus, 09-29-2005 11:14 AM

Name: Nuggin Forum: Origin Of Life Thread: Evolution In The Very Beginning Post: #18 I also liked how God was mentioned as a potential beginning. The only addendum would be "In the Beginning, God...instead of In the beginning, nothing. This message has been edited by Phatboy, 09-29-2005 02:22 AM
