Author: NosyNed
Forum: Creation/Evolution In The News Thread: Opponents of Evolution Adopting a New Strategy Message #: Message 69 It expresses what is at stake right here, right now, in Texas. NosyNed lays it out in his usual blunt, yet dead on, manner. Edited by anglagard, : no edit - changed my mind Read not to contradict and confute, not to believe and take for granted, not to find talk and discourse, but to weigh and consider - Francis Bacon The more we understand particular things, the more we understand God - Spinoza

Thank you. It's been a long time.
Me? Blunt? I feel that I should now give my acceptance speech and thank all those really responsible. I think I stole all the idea in there starting with the Thomas concept. Edited by NosyNed, : No reason given.

NosyNed writes: Me? Blunt? I meant blunt under the best meaning of the word, perhaps I should have used the phrase 'in no uncertain terms.' At any rate, I feel it is a great post, very 'succinct' and quite economical concerning unnecessary verbiage. Some of the writing was almost transcendent, e.g.:
NosyNed writes: So far, when the light of enough knowledge is shone on something there is no God found in the shadows. ... On this side are believers and unbelievers who understand that if God exists the only true record of his handiwork is what He wrote directly into his creation. Nosy says "It's been a long time," referring to his last POTM nomination, and this reminds me of the many times when after clicking on "Submit Reply" I'm left feeling, "I could have done better." I'm sure many of us recognize the feeling. In this case Nosy did do better, and it should energize us all to keep trying to transcend our limitations. To Wumpini: This is not an endorsement or attaboy for Nosy's position. Naturally I do share Nosy's view on this topic, but I hope it is the quality of the prose and argumentation that I'm reacting to. You've expressed and conducted yourself admirably well throughout that thread and also deserve high praise. --Percy

Let's be clear: everything I posted is borrowed from other people. Maybe I happened to package it up in an appropriate place.

Seconded.
Excellently written, very clear with no unnecessary waffle whatsoever.I do agree with the argument being put forward but in this case that is not the point. The post is just excellently constructed.

Isn't this the, "If I have seen further it is because I have stood on the shoulders of giants," type of excuse for high achievement? Sorry if I embarrassed you. Still, maybe we should have a rule against modesty in this thread, which would limit you to responding with a simple, "Thank you." And your welcome! --Percy

On thread: Good behaviour doesn't require superstition
Post #13 Taz puts forward a coherent (and juicily controversial) theory about the moral failings of religion. Well thought out and clearly written.

On thread: Logical Proof of Existence of a Divine Creator Post #9
Rhavin does his usual exceellent job of logically dismantling the standard creationist arguments. Nothing new is needed but his refutation is succinct, ruthless withour being rude and just about flawless. I wish that I could respond to these well worn topics with such dismissive well practised ease and logical deftness.

Same thread as above. Another great post from Rahvin. Ruthlessly dissects the creationist position whilst remaining informative and eductaional. I almost feel sorry for the author of the OP..........

Author: Son Goku
Forum: Big Bang and Cosmology Thread: Quantum Physics - Copenhagen Vs Decoherence Interpretations Message 26 Son Goku explains a difficult subject with skill and much appreciated patience. In general I find SG’s posts to be informative and pitched at a level appropriate to the audience at hand without ever being patronising or condescending. I know I have nominated a few mesages already this month. It is not my intention to relentlessly spam the POTM nominations. I genuinely think we have had some excellent and varied posts this month!! Including the one detailed above. If you have an interest in QM then check it out.
