Dwise1 for a nice packaging of resources
Message 47
I guess I'll have to go with the slightly arrogant sounding handle. Dwise1 has started off with a very useful post very early on.

Re: Dwise1 for a nice packaging of resources
The Origin Story on that:
David Wise. Common computer network username convention is to prepend the first letter of the first name to the last name (reference the old Dilbert strip about "Brenda Utthead" complaining about her username), hence David Wise becomes "dwise". At my second programming position, we used the new MacIntoshes to do documentation pages combining text and graphics. They were floppy-based at the time, so we all had our own floppies (the neat new 3.5-inch ones, Star Trek TOS-style -- well, the only Star Trek at that time) that we labeled with our user names. When I progressed to my second floppy, they were labeled "dwise1" and "dwise2". Then one day, somebody looked at my floppies and laughed.
Years later when I signed up for AOL, I had to immediately come up with a unique screenname. All I could think of was that incident of my fellow-worker laughing at my floppy's label, so that's what I went with.
Now it's my monicker. No arrogance was ever intended by it.
And thank you for the nomination.

I don't agree with you, Archer...I am one of those fervant believers with no proof!
I know a good post when I see one, though! Very articulate, well presented, and undeniably logical.

Then for desert he offers a credible partial explanation for creation "science".

Seconded. Since Archer arrived at EvC I have been constantly impressed by the quality and reason of his posts. This one is a masterpiece.

Re: Thanx
Can I say 'thank you' on this thread?
It's an honor to see something I wrote commended by people whose writing I so much enjoy. When a post is long, in fact, it's good to know anyone reads it at all!
This is a remarkable forum you've put together. You use the strengths of the e-mail format to make a place where people actually talk to each other and get acquainted, in spite of differences that often seem intractable. I especially appreciate the scientists here who take the time, gratis, to share what they know with the lay public, especially the misinformed and the spiritually abused.
And thanks for giving me a place to keep my English up to speed.
phat - 'Fervent' you may be, but in the best sense. You respect what you revere. You let God be God. My hat is off to that, sir, always.
phat, NosyNed, jar - Here's wishing you a star in your crown and a beer in your hand, both golden.

Re: Thanx
As far as I know you can thank people here, so let me say thanks to you. I suppose this is another backing for the POM, but it goes further.
Since I've been at EvC I've seen a lot of good posters and good posts. Exceptional. However you are the first to have all the right elements in all the right places (including that I agree with your position) every single time!
And thanks for giving me a place to keep my English up to speed.
If english is not your first language then I hesitate to think what your writing must be like in your native language.
I've often wondered what your educational (formal or informal) background was to develop your writing style. If you taught a course, I would join.

Short, succinct summary. (I know we argue from time to time, but that's okay. Is a debate board afterall.)
Some other good posts there too, I'm still reading the thread though.
