John T. Scopes was the fallguy biology teacher that evolutionists used to make their case against the anti-evolutionary theory law. This was sold as the trial of the century at the time, but that was before the O.J. Simpson trial...
Here is part of what teacher Scopes taught his students.
------
"The Races of Man - At the present time there exists upon the earth
five races or varieties of man, each very different from the other in
instincts, social customs, and, to an extent, in structure. These are
the Ethiopian or negro type, originating in Africa; the Malay or brown
race, from the islands of the Pacific; the American Indian; the
Mongolian or Yellow race, including the natives of China,
Japan, and the Eskimos; and finally, the highest type of all, the
Caucasians, represented by the civilised white inhabitants of Europe
and America."
(Hunter, A Civic Biology, 1914, textbook of teacher Scopes, of Scopes
trial fame)
-----
As you can see, teacher Scopes ported the pseudoscientific quasi-racist version of evolutionary theory.
Verdict then: guilty
Verdict now: guilty
As an aside, below is a funny/embarassing anecdote from the trial records.
---
SUPREME COURT of TENNESSEE
JOHN THOMAS SCOPES v. THE STATE
(Nashville, December Term, 1926.)
--------
"The following statement of Dr. E.N. Reinke, Professor of Biology in
Vanderbilt University, is repeatedly quoted in briefs of counsel for
the defense:"
"The theory of evolution is altogether essential to the teaching of
biology and its kindred sciences. To deny the teacher of biology the
use of this most fundamental generalization of his science would make
his teaching as chaotic as an attempt to teach astronomy without the
law of gravitation or physics without assuming the existence of the
ether."

Evolutionary theory in biology is just as important as the now largely discarded theory of the ether in physics.

FUNNY,
Why or why is evolution the core of biology. And it is the central core if I might ask. Pick up any biology textbooks and they will say what I am saying.
No more on this subject. I have said enough
