Being selected after only two days, the ascension of Robert Francis Prevost has been celebrated by the world's 1.4 billion Catholics, with joyous outbursts in his US homeland and in Peru, where he served for 20 years. A Chicago native, Pope Leo XIV is the first American Pope in history. In his first message, the 69-year-old Pontif spoke to the crowds.
  • Speaking the day after he was elected as the 267th Pope and first US leader of the Church, he warned that people were turning away from faith and instead to "technology, money, success, power, or pleasure".
    quote:
In his sermon on Friday, the new Pope said there were many settings where the Christian faith was considered "absurd" - with power, wealth, and technology dominating - but it was precisely there that missionary outreach was needed.
"A lack of faith is often tragically accompanied by the loss of meaning in life, the neglect of mercy, appalling violations of human dignity, the crisis of the family and so many other wounds that afflict our society,"
I hope that he takes a firm stand against many of the same things you Democrats wanted to oppose. (I might listen to him better than I ever would have listened to Kamala.) If we can learn any lesson, people of all ideologies will listen to a Pope far better than a politician. Many of us rebel against a government with a mandate to spend our money as if it were itself a secular humanist organisation.

When both religious and non-religious people reach the same conclusions then you know religion isn't the reason.--Percy

Critics would of course say that "God" is a product of human imagination...but then again God may well declare that all of creation is a product of His imagination! It is all in the perspective of the observer.~Phat

    From your first paragraph:
    Phat writes in Message 1:
...the ascension of Robert Francis Prevost has been celebrated by the world's 1.4 billion Catholics, with joyous outbursts in his US homeland and in Peru, where he served for 20 years.
And here's a paragraph found at Pope Leo XIV calls Church 'a beacon to illuminate dark nights' in first Mass from a BBC News article:
    BBC News:
The ascension of Robert Francis Prevost has been celebrated by the world's 1.4 billion Catholics, with joyous outbursts in his US homeland and in Peru, where he served for 20 years.
Remarkable similarity, wouldn't you say? Other parts of your post come from the same article, yet there's no attribution.
    Closing this down.
