I've just completed a software update that includes these changes:
- Changing your password on your Profile page:
Click on the Change Password link to bring up the password change box, enter your new password twice, then click on the Change Password button.
- Changing your email address on your Profile page:
Click on the Change Email link to bring up the email change box, enter your new email address twice, then click on the Change Email button. Emails will be sent to both your old and new email address. The email to your new email address will contain a confirmation link that you must click in order for the change to take effect. This makes it impossible to accidentally change your email address to an incorrect or non-existent address.
- Requesting a new password link on the website login page:
Click on the Request New Password link, then enter your email address. An email will be sent with a link to a page that will allow you to set a new password.
- Registration
Registration is something that current members need not go through again, but I've completely rewritten the registration code. Instead of the board selecting a password and sending it to you, you now select your own password. You are then email'd a validation link which must be clicked before you have full member privileges. While you can log in and access the board without clicking on the validation link, you cannot send messages or PMs.
Any testing members are willing to do would be greatly appreciated, including registration. In fact, especially registration.
Anyone who decides to help me out and test registration, you'll need to use a different email address than the one you're currently using at EvC Forum. And please use a member name that begins with "test" so that these accounts can be easily identified and deleted later.
Please post any comments, problems, issues, bugs, to this thread. Thanks!
