I have a question.
If I am interested in responding to the link and or information in the links and information forum but the link is not found in (the)thread I want to discuss topically, then I must republish the link?
What is the purpose of having a linkedlist longer than one post long in the links forum??

Purpose of the links forum ...
is simply to place links of interest before the members. It's not a place to discuss the links. If you find a link that you'd like to discuss please propose a new topic.

Re: Purpose of the links forum ...
No and yes. In the former you were basically providing additional links. In the later you were opening a discussion.

Re: Purpose of the links forum ...
Earlier today I, for lack of a better term, reprimanded Brad for posting commentary in the "Amicus briefs filed in Selman v Cobb County School District" "Links and Information" topic. His message was the previous there.
I think I agree with AdminJar's above comment. That said, the "L&I" forum is problematic. Why have information of any sort be posted, if it isn't to be debated? Well, "L&I" is a dumping ground for bare or near bare links. Perhaps the guideline there is (even if not specificly stated) like that of the "Post of the Month" forum topics.
Message 1 at the POTM topics include:
...and perhap a SHORT comment would also be nice. But, this is NOT a place to debate the referenced topic - so be nice.
A little debate tends to sometimes leak into "L&I" topics, and sometimes a bare link is appropriate at a debate forum topic. But the intent is to limit such things.
, like most everything, has "gray area" situations.

Re: Purpose of the links forum ...
That is fair enough.
I guess it is time for me to start offering up new topics if I want to speak out loud.
It is only because I had read Ned's prepublished comments that I started to think of replying and then I guess I overtyped Nic's statement that it (in the reprimanded linkedposts) was just an announcement. Perhaps I should read some of the guidelines better. It is because in some cases I am somewhat *against* some of the links that I dont want to republish them just comment on them, but if I must I will just alter my posting threshold then. The curious thing is that what I wrote was not intended as a "debate" but only as an observation. I guess my view on e/c is so unusual that the difficulty in apprehending me leads to a debate about comprehension in this particular instance.
Jar, I agree with a no and yes response as well.
