Maybe what we are looking at in space is already magnified, but we just don't realize it. If God said he "stretches out the heavens like a tent" then this would explain the ongoing expansion of the universe and our own "earth expanding" theory.
Magnification would explain the aging process and why the people in the old testament lived 900-1000 years; they were not subjected to as much magnification. Noah got in a boat, and God flipped the switch so to speak and everything started stretching and breaking open the deeps...now our life span is only 120 years...

I really don't know what to make of this idea. Is it your own or an idea that has other sources that maybe could be tracked on the internet?
It has a scientific aura to it but it's obviously from a Biblical perspective. What forum would you choose for it? I think of Theological Creationism and ID myself.

This is my own idea. Like an optical illusion to what we're looking at when we gaze into space. There is a theory the physicists jokingly call the "hall of mirrors universe" but this is not that theory.
The 2nd paragraph I've gone a little further with it and even propose that everything on earth is being subjected to this type of phenonema. Anyway, just thought I'd post it. There is no evidence to back it up with though.
Theological Creationism is fine with me.

Does this "theory" explain why there were no rainbows before The Flood?

I've read theories that there was a misty cloud cover over the entire earth before the flood and therefore no rainbows. Something changed dramatically however after the flood, and the skies and subterranean earth opened up.

what's the point of having the sun, moon, and stars to count the seasons and years and days if you can't see them before the flood?
that would make the geneologies incorrect, no?

You're right. There probably wasn't a cloud cover. It was just something I had read. I wish I had a scientific answer.
Most people have never really thought about what they see in space may not be as large as they think. Sort of like getting past "the earth is flat" way of thinking. (yes, I believe we live on a round earth).

I take it you mean the distance, not the size, of what you see?
I'm not sure of the process and math they use to date the universe, but it involves light.
and since the furthest light is coming from 13 billion light years, we also know how far away that object is.
13 billion times distance light travels in a year gives you an astronomically big number.
one of those astronomers or astrophysicists here will have to explain it a lot better, but point is
there is no illusion to the expansion of the galaxy, and it's not due to some magnification force.

Likely the sun and moon could be seen but would have been dim but plenty of light for daytime. it is prophesied that the sun and moon will be a third dimmer in the latter day events upon earth. Possibly that's about how it was before the flood.
