Welcome back.
I started this topic in the hopes that the welcomes would come here, rather than being off-topic messages in other topics.

Really, this should have gone in my topic Where are you, rather than making a new topic here. AHAHAHA!

Wow
Wow, you made a thread for me when I went missing, Mike? I feel so honored!
The delay was simple: due to inspiration from posting on this forum, I went to work on a neural simulation. It proved so successful that I decided to ditch my physical form, and have been residing in my PC ever since.
Oh, the delay? In my absense, my partner installed Windows, and reformatted me. Thank YHVH for the backup....
(Ok, the truth is a bit less glamorous; I got burned out of social interaction from Wikipedia. I ended up spending my time programming 3d engines and the like, until finally being dragged back into chat by my guild on Archmage and my rediscovery of Slashdot. ).

Re: 3D ?
Nono I work in a hospital on brain imaging software. I write 3d engines and the like for fun.
Of course, since I've gotten social again, my last engine has idled (it's a fractal-tesselating voxel-based 3d engine; I was in the process of trying to add in a higher level piece of hidden surface calculation to limit the number of needed tesselations.)

Yeah, cos I remember u took a break for christmas and then came back for a bit. Forgive my memory - it usually remembers these lil things.
I went to work on a neural simulation. It proved so successful that I decided to ditch my physical form, and have been residing in my PC ever since.
Hahaha. Did it make you omniscient? Oh I forget, you already were omniscient. Maybe u de-ciphered Brad when u were in there eh?
Anyway, glad you're back, cos I like a good fight with Rei. Though I am not YEC anymore so I might not be ur enemy as much.

Re: 3D ?
Hey Rei! Welcome back!
I was wondering where you had gone.
Im a programmer also, I work on database software for a big company. hehe... and I also work on 3D games on the side
My lattest project is a OpenGL based rogue-like game using a CLOD based height map. Nothing too incredible, but it looks very nice.
Anyway, welcome back to the EvC!

Re: 3D ?
Oooh, neat. Turn-based like Rogue, or semi-turn based (or realtime) like X-com? How does it compare to, say, Falcon's Eye? It's a game which is graphics put to Nethack, which is itself an advanced (really advanced!) version of Rogue.
