See Error.
Kris Helphinstine, the teacher in question, was quoted saying, ""Critical thinking is vital to scientific inquiry. My whole purpose was to give accurate information and to get them thinking. I never taught creationism. I know what it is, and I went out of my way not to teach it."
What Mr. Helphinstine did, according to the article, was include "Biblical references in material he provided to students and gave a PowerPoint presentation that made links between evolution, Nazi Germany and Planned Parenthood."

way too little information
Well, I have looked at a lot of the articles on this and all of them seem to just have the AP news material. None of them really get into exactly what the content of the lessons were. However, I can see no relationship between Evolution, Nazi Germany and Planned Parenthood, nor can I see any connection between the Bible and any of those subjects, so I for one, would have loved to been at the classes.
I'd love to see the example of Critical Thinking based on the demonstration of Not Critically Thinking.

If what he says is true, the reaction towards his teaching seems heavyhanded to the point of madness. I want to find out more about this case.

How does one go out of their way to not teach Creationism in a biology class? One would have to go considerably out of their way for the issue to even come up.

Some Additional Facts
The article mentioned that the teacher was part time and taught for 8 days. It also mentioned that the teacher had a Masters of Science degree from Oregon State. Seemingly the key issues were that the students were confused by the additional material and also one parent also went over the line IMO by declaring
"How many minds did he pollute?"
Personally, I think kids ought to see different sides of the issues. Everyone seems so hell bent on keeping philosophy away from science. (Notice the clever way I introduce Faith and God into the discussion with my use of the word Philosophy?

It's true. You don't see nearly enough biology classes that teach of the conspiracy between Nazi Germany and Planned Parenthood.
While we're at it, could we get some teachers that'll teach social studies classes about the Draconian reptilian hybrids that control every aspect of government through the Bavarian Illuminati? Students studying how the government works should see different sides of that issue too.

I dunno, Phat. What philosophy advocates the presentation of falsehoods as facts, and why do we want to teach this to our children?

Re: way too little information
there's tons of links between evolution, nazi germany, and planned parenthood. it's called sexual selection and breeding control. if everyone has all the babies they can, then we don't control the gene pool and jesus is happy. if people start to abort babies, they might start forcing christians to abort and weed them out of the gene pool.
duh we're trying to turn everyone gay and if we can't, we'll abort their babies.

Sheesh, why don't you just show them the Big Board and give the whole game away. I want your Atheist Evolutionist Conspiracy decoder ring back right now.

I checked this out too, I could not see where Nazi Germany and
Planned Parenthood came into the issue.
which by the way is crazy for anyone to try and put evolution on a
relationship with Nazi's yet I am sure there are people doing that.
and I think if he did not have anything included about such things
then that was a radical assertion to make.
With that said if evolution is only tought, then thats all they will
know. nothing more, nothing less. so that will leave it to the parents
to do.
which religion is better tought in the home. as it wont offend people
who get offended easly, which solves the problem.

well. people see any suggestion about natural selection and start blaming us for racism. which is cute, cause i've read the old testament. nothing like two whole religions built on the specialness of one "race" to create equality.

Well, we might as well teach the connection between keeping healthy, eating properly, and nazi germany in health education classes.
