I'm tring to set up a new official blog site for the reserve where I work. It appears that I did everything right, but IE is claiming it cannot access the site. Oddly enough, I seem to be able to log in, edit the page, post messages to it, etc. I just can't actually view the site - and neither can anyone else, even using another compuer. Any suggestions? What am I doing wrong?
The address is supposedly: yachanapreserve.blogspot.com. Is anyone able to access it?

Okay, this is simply bizarre. Neither I nor any of my friends using our local internet connection can access ANY of the blogspot blogs. Is there a way for someone to block blogs? It's weird that no other blog site appears to have this problem, either (like facebook or netlog).
If it's not some kind of control thing, is there a setting in IE or maybe Windows Vista that needs to be tweaked? I'm so technologically challenged that I'd believe anything.

It is most likely a DNS issue.
Try several things, first open a window using start-->all programs-->Accessories-->Command Prompt then type innslookup yachanapreserve.blogspot.com let me know what answer is returned Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

In chat, jar was able to help fix the problem in a few short sentences. I've always said the guy was a genius.
Anywhoo, everyone is invited to the inauguration of the blog. Feel free to post comments, suggestions, etc. Virtual champagne all around!!

You can pick a homepage at your profile. Unless, you're trying to keep a low profile about it, you might as well make the blog your homepage.
Make sure to test things. Sometimes weird things have happened with homepage URL's. Moose

That's a good idea, Moose. Unfortunately it appears that I'm back to the same problem - I can't actually view the blog from here. Nor, interestingly enough, can anyone else using our network. There is still no problem with anyone outside the narrow confines of the Amazon . I tried the trick that worked last time, but no joy this go around. I can access the layout from blogger dashboard, but can't actually "view" the blog itself. I can also post new messages (apparently).

Hi Quetzal,
Your blog looks great. The Yachana project must be very satisfying to work on, good luck with it. A conservationist friend of mine was in Ecuador recently (she was lucky enough to spot your namesake whilst she was there!), and she was very impressed with the Ecuadorian attitude toward conservation. You are doing good work out there. There is one thing though. You might like to change this line from your front page; quote:Obviously I've cut quite a bit out, but it could do with re-writing for clarity. Just trying to help out, you understand. I don't know whether it applies to your situation, but it's quite common for people within an organization not to be able to access their own public web sites.
The problem is usually that the server holding the public web site lives outside the security zone that protects the network's computers from external hackers, and for some reason that makes the server inaccessible to computers on the local network. If you explain the problem to a network person (if you have one) I'm sure they'll be able to fix it. 'I can't even fit all my wife's clothes into a suitcase for travelling.
