Wehey, I've posted a thousand posts of babble. I think either this post or my next will be a 1000. You won't believe how hard it is to achieve a thousand posts.
Main changes - Not a dedicated YEC anymore
- Still creationist
- Do accept speciation and Natural Selection, so I am also an evolutionist.
- Still a member of the loopy brigade
- on a more serious note, I'm starting to realise that I don't need to take the bible literally to be a believer. Afterall, it's not like the book itself needs to be worshipped.
- So, I guess this forum has influenced atleast one member.
- Still a total believer in Christ though.
Asgara, where's my champagne?

Champagn and Cookies All Around
Congratulations, Mike - both for the post count and the realization that worshipping a book is not equivalent to worshipping God. Keep up the good work.

Hey Mike. Nice to know that more people are realizing that evolution says nothing about Jesus coming to earth and dying for people's sin. Happy 1k.

So you are still alive afterall then.
I might let you have a cookie if you are nice to me, and you don't give me a hard time in the bible section.
Spank my inner moppet? I've severly thrashed my inner-bigot today at this forum.

Well Mike, I dono. Sounds like you've been boondogled into the mindset of a following a weak god who's not quite smart enough to create so needs Mr. NS to do the task for him and take millions to billions of years to do what he said he did in a day. And of course, if he must go the long selective naturalist secularist haul to bring things to be, then likely he's not up to performing miracles either. Too bad, brother. You've let the folks drag you down instead of lifting them up to read the book and know it means pretty much what it says. Get the Exodus Revealed video. Hopefully it will help to get you back believing God is the Almighty able to do things in a hurry.

So God is weak if he sets up a process that takes an unimaginably long time to complete, and strong if he just poofs everything into existence a few thousand years ago? Does that mean that weak means complex and imaginative, and strong means lazy and sloppy? Hm.
Keep in mind that to an omnipotent being, all tasks are equally feasible. The only real difference between the two Gods you describe is that one creates a more intricately designed universe than the other.

You play much pool, Buz?
Which would impress you more? The carefully executed trick shot that sinks every ball from the break; or the guy that just grabs the balls with his hand and throws them in?

There is something I never understood. It seems one of the tenets of christianity is to know god by his works. On one hand, you have a book, written by people, inspired or not, that you hold to be the word of god. On the other hand, you have the universe, a piece of work wrought by the same god, which is much more impressive than a book. Now, there seems to be a conflict between the two. Which is a better testement to the works of a god, a book, or ALL OF REALITY? Frankly, I would be more impressed with a diety that could formulate a plan and set it forth in an instant, which would unfold on its own over time, versus having to do a hack job over a week's period.

Hey Buz - don't kick me out yet
Hey buz, don't forget - I'm still on your side, I am still Creationist, though the only change is that I don't argue much for creationism anymore and I guess I am christian mostly. But I am still creo - just not a strong one, I suppose I am a bit more neutral these days.
I still see fantastic design work by a Creator.

DarwinStorm, God has been replaced by a book. It seems most fundalmentalist babtist worship the bible and not God. At least this is my own observation.

I get the feeling that your little corner of Texas is a lot like my little corner of Mississippi. Fundies everywhere! I think there are more Southern Baptist churches in Mississippi that there are convenience stores.
I must say, though, that things are a bit better here in Vicksburg that they were in Jackson. People are somewhat more sophisticated even though Jackson is a much larger city. Something about the river, I suppose. Vicksburg is a major port town.
Likewise, New Orleans, one of the most important ports in the South, is almost like another country.

My corner, too - or apparently every corner except maybe the parts of Austin close to the U of T. Out here, I think that the standard definition of "traitor" is "one who disagrees with Rush Limbaugh" and of "atheist" is "non-Protestant but that probably includes them Methodists and Episcopalians...."

Texas
I've resisted saying bad things about Texas (home of the Shrub), because I've internet-encountered so many nice Texans (contrary to my general image of the "type" Texan).
So, what's the feelings about Jim Hightower, it Texas?
Moose
