As a young woman who lives on her own.....
What he's suggesting works well in some circles and not well at all in others. In strong Christian families it's almost becoming seen as a necessity again after years of it being looked down upon.
I have a very good friend who lives thousands of miles from home and wishes her Dad was closer because she would really like to have access to his wisdom and protection when dealing with men. In Christian families, a lot of young women want the counsel of their Father's because they recognize the Godly authority and also realize that emotion can initially blind us to many things.
This isn't always the case. I couldn't care less if the guy talked to my Dad or not. In fact I might find it weird. It all depends on the woman and the family dynamics.
