Glad you're back, V. Here's some good advice for you from Jesus as he taught his desciples in getting along in the world inasmuch as is possible.
Be you, therefore, wise as serpents and harmless as doves."
Matthew 10:16
Serpents are subtile, crafty and evasive of danger. Doves are beautiful, graceful and harmless. Odly as demonstrated in this forum, Americans tend to be critical of the Bible, Jesus and fundamentalist Christians and apologetic to the Quran and Islam. The words of Jesus are good advice when engaging in debate on this subject. When I have done so, I believe my posts have been harmless, and in fact helpful and enlightening in that I what I have posted, imo, has been substantiated by historical facts and direct quotes from Islamic sources. My counterparts, of course will disagree no matter what I post.
From my early experience in this forum, I advise to tread lightly and get the feel of tolerance and policy or as with me in the beginning, you'll end up confined to the freeforall. We are after all, in a sense guests of Percy, but on the other hand if he and the others want an interesting, provacative and balanced forum, they need diverse opinion expressed as well as the diverse need a place to express those opinions.
Looking forward to reading your input.
OOPS!! Another wise thing to do. Click the preview button and observe your post before posting. I forgot here, so am editing a correction.

Serpents are repulsive and Doves are just Pigeons [flying rats] with better PR.
Repulsive, yes. Subtile, also yes. Doves? Flying rats, maybe, but peaceful, and that's what you need to be here in town, inasmuch as possible and within reason, if you care to stay. Trust me.
Please don't quote dotty little diatribes at me. I will expect more from you.
It was a little pebble that felled Goliath. Read and heed these and you'll too fell the giants.
I thank you for the advice and will indeed tread lightly at the beginning, but the acid on my tongue is as natural as the serpents and will fall from the sky much like Doves do when they annoy the hell out of me on a Sunday Morning.
You're bad, your tough and you're welcome I'm sure, so long as you understand you're still a guest here.
You will get used to the Edited by V-bird... or be driven mad by it, that will be your choice.
Mmm, I dono, Vperson........you might want to get used to the freeforall, but even so, don't think admin's gona get used to un-necessary intentional and avoidable edits. Better reconsider.
To quote wise King Solomon, remember, "Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful." This C/creo wants to be your friend, not your enemy.

Could you tell me EXACTLY what makes you think a Dove is peaceful?
I have never understood this.
"Harmless" is the word Jesus used. Doves have a mellow pleasant song. They're less problem than pidgeons, imo and they are unagressive. Last summer near my barn I was doing something and suddenly I realized I was looking at a dove in her nest about a foot from my face. This was a wild dove and she didn't make a move. I left her be. They're not as likely to move into the barn as pidgeons are, but on occasion will pose a problem there. All in all, I'd day harmless describes them well, that is unless you're a bug.
Btw, you wouldn't be a poster on another forum with the username initials of BN, would you?? In some ways you remind me of this poster, but in others, no.

Re: peaceful animals
Dear Buzsaw,
Are fishes peaceful?
That's as relative a question as "Are birds peaceful?" You'd need to do a thread on it as it's not related to this thread.
