i got a message May 8th, around 6pm EDT trying to log into facebook:"Confirm your identity with a video selfie
To make sure you’re a real person, we need you to record a video selfie. We’ll ask you to move your head during the recording to help us capture your face at different angles."and on gmail I got this message:

=====================================================================i think it was because of the number of times i posted "Trump needs to be killed ASAP" in reply to threads on facebook.It appears that Zuckerburg is gathering facial videos to help ICE round up suspects with their AI facial recognition software.Of course i haven't hit the "Continue" button in the FB message or answered the gmail notification and am taking a break from FB for now.Has anyone else received this bullshit? Maybe i'm the lucky one...

I just logged out of Facebook and logged back in again. It didn't ask me to go through any identification process.Looking at my inbox, I have no email from Facebook.Looking this up on Google, it's apparently a process Facebook goes through when it thinks it has detected a potential security issue. Personally, the first time Facebook asks me to do this will be the last time I use Facebook.About the email, does it contain any links? If so, do they go to Facebook? As an additional check you can examine the email headers. I don't use gmail, but I imagine they provide a way to access to email headers.Just yesterday I received a request from Apple Cash asking me to verify my identity, and it wanted my SSN. Looking into it I found that the request was legitimate. Those of us of a certain age remember a time when we were cautioned not to give out our SSN because it could be used to compromise your identify. It still has all the same security problems it had before, but Congress in all its wisdom decided to pass legislation (the Patriot Act being the most famous) requiring use of SSNs for identification.--Percy

facebookmail.com is a legitimate domain used by Facebook, so emailing security@facebookmail.com is worth trying, but most companies with a significant Internet presence don't maintain sufficient staff for responding to individual emails. I'd expect an automated response and that your email will go through some kind of automated screening to see if an actual human being should look at it.About Update Your Browser, increasing numbers of websites are taking advantage of software that detects whether a request comes from an actual browser or not. When you enter www.facebook.com/login my software fetches that webpage and attempts to extract its title, but the Facebook software detects that the request hasn't come from a browser and hence returns a webpage whose title is "Update Your Browser". It's a polite way of telling my software that it knows that a non-browser is trying to fetch the webpage.The reason websites do this is to prevent scraping of their webpages. Scraping is when software fetches a webpage and then parses through its HTML extracting the content. That's exactly what I'm doing, but my scraping is pretty innocent since I'm only seeking the webpage title.There's a software package I've used on another website that imitates a browser, and if I start using it here then that problem will go away and you'll see an accurate title for the link.--Percy

still nothing as of 3:38pm tuesday.but i have heard that 2 of my son's co-players in their D&D group have also received the video request. and they apparently complied with the request. and still are waiting to get back in.

I'm not surprised that you haven't received a response. Corporate America is becoming more and more disconnected from their customer base. I think they find the work necessary to acquire new customers is less than for keeping old ones.--Percy

You mean from Mick-O-Wizz to your thoughtful Message 236 that tries to get the discussion going?Then you'll have a very long wait, since Mick-O-Wizz has a very long established modus operandi (MO) of run-by word-salad tossing: he posts piles of word salad and then disappears for a few more months. Some times very shortly after that initial posting he'll briefly return to sprinkle some more BS bits on his word salad, only to immediately run away again.To put that into pigeon chess terms:
