Re: Chilling Footage of an Arrest
Don't dignify these with the term "arrest."
This is a disappearance. ICE is our Gestapo/brownshirts/SS. They're abducting legal residents and illegally renditioning them without any due process to concentration camps off US soil to make any remedy after the fact more difficult/impossible.
If they can abduct noncitizens without due process, they can abduct you. Without due process there is no opportunity to prove your status.
This is the beginning of what Nuremberg was for. "Following orders" is not an excuse. "Never again" is now.

"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs." - John Rogers

“A world that can be explained even with bad reasons is a familiar world. But, on the other hand, in a universe suddenly divested of illusions and lights, man feels an alien, a stranger. His exile is without remedy since he is deprived of the memory of a lost home or the hope of a promised land. This divorce between man and his life, the actor and his setting, is properly the feeling of absurdity.” – Albert Camus

"...the pious hope that by combining numerous little turds of variously tainted data, one can obtain a valuable result; but in fact, the outcome is merely a larger than average pile of shit." - Barash, David 1995...

"Many that live deserve death. And some die that deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then be not too eager to deal out death in the name of justice, fearing for your own safety. Even the wise cannot see all ends." - Gandalf, J. R. R. Tolkien: The Lord Of the Rings

Parody Project on the security breach
Massive security breach in the Whitehouse, war plans discussed using an internet app and copied in to a journalist. No problem, nothing to see here, move on, lets buy Greenland.

Just a "glitch" apparently. Next.

I provided ChatGPT a few of Phat's messages and asked him to compose a reply in Phat's style. Here it is:

Is this what I voted for? You bet it is. I voted for someone who understands the reality of the situation, someone who doesn’t get bogged down in the bureaucratic swamp or play political games. Yes, Trump. He's been fighting against the establishment and trying to fix the mess that's been building for decades. This mess didn’t start in 2016, and it sure as hell won’t end with him.
You can blame him all you want for the problems, but the truth is, the economy was already headed for a crash long before he ever took office. The so-called experts were too busy inflating bubbles and covering their tracks to notice the storm brewing. And now, here we are, almost out of road, and everyone’s looking for someone to blame.
If you think this is all Trump’s fault, you’re missing the bigger picture. This country has been on the edge for a long time. It’s been about kickbacks, corruption, and bad deals—this isn’t a new problem. Trump is just the only one willing to call it out. So yes, this is exactly what I voted for: someone who isn’t afraid to shake things up and stand up to the people who’ve been ruining this country for decades.
And don’t get me started on the so-called “alternative” solutions. The progressives have had their chance, and look where it got us—running up a debt so high we might as well be using Monopoly money. The next crash will be brutal, and everyone who thinks this is about Trump is missing the forest for the trees. He may not be perfect, but he’s been the only one willing to challenge the status quo.
So yes, this is exactly what I voted for. The real question is: What are you going to do about it when the crash comes and there’s no one left to blame but the system itself?

I guess we can now expect to see everything in the Project 2025 handbook implemented. God help us.

project 2025
I already created a topic thread about project 2025 before the election. Message 1.
It warned about the cruel and draconian actions of project 2025 if implemented.
It specifically alerted voters who had profound learning disabilities, hateful racist aggrievements, and religious authoritarian leanings.
If you view it you will see that it had broad interest and tens of thousands of follow-up entries from ethically concerned americans.
And it pleases me to announce that its message . . . saved democracy.

Real Meanings of "DEI"
Call-in to Thom Hartmann this morning:
quote:
Trump still has "DEI", only it means "Demogogues Empowering Idiots".
Thom added that, by examining how they use the term, "DEI" is just the more recent Republicanese for "n****r". Take any MAGAt statement about "DEI" and substitute the "n-word" and it will read the same.

Why Trump Wants Greenland
I'll keep this simple and short. There's no news item to cite because this is just my own idea.
Not counting the Atlantic Ocean, Europe is the last bulwark protecting the United States from Russian aggression. Since Trump is abandoning Europe to Russian expansionism he needs a new bulwark against Russia, and that's Greenland.

Wait. "... against Russia"? Why would Trump ever want a bulwark against Russia and his sweet boo?
[NOTE: Is "boo" as a term of endearment a corruption of "beau"? ]
I've heard that Trump has always lusted after Greenland when he first saw it on a map and was amazed at its size. On a Mercator projection map. IOW, Trump was and still is so dumb that he didn't and still doesn't understand how Mercator projection greatly distorts the apparent size of land at extreme northern and southern latitudes, making them appear far larger than they really are.

Another DOGE disaster in the making
Musk wants to rewrite the SSAs business software - which is all in COBOL - in a matter of months. A previous estimate was 5 years.
I guess he intends to cut out unimportant things like design and testing.
Ars Technica
I guess the plan is to save money by being unable to pay benefits.

And Canada is even bigger! If Trump could add Greenland and Canada to the United States it would make us easily the largest country in the world according to Mercator projection maps. In fact, it would make us the largest country in the world, period!

Another Non-Surprise
Trump says he wants to end wars, but Trump threatens bombing if Iran does not make nuclear deal.
As evidence of the effectiveness of bombing in forcing adversaries to capitulate I offer the Blitz, the constant bombing of German cities, the same for Tokyo, the bombing of Laos, the list goes on forever.

Re: People Starting to Stockpile Supplies?
I was in CostCo today where I noticed something.

They sell toilet paper (TP) in a large package: 5 packets of six rolls each for a total of 30 rolls. It seemed that almost every basket I saw had TP in it. And the big pile of TP was much smaller than usual.

It seems as if everybody had learned a lesson the last time Trump was in office, so they're stocking up now in preparation.
As follow-up on that, I saw an economic news video on YouTube suggesting a repeat of the TP shortage.
TP and other paper products are made out of wood pulp. Guess where we get most of our wood pulp. From Canada. You know, the country we're about to launch a trade war with such that imports from Canada, such as wood pulp, will become much more expensive along with anything made from wood pulp. The country looking to replace us with better customers, such that they could very well decide to not export any wood pulp to us.
Yeah, that Canada.
We do not grow enough trees to meet our wood pulp needs, nor do we have enough factories to convert trees to enough wood pulp.
Could just be sensationalism, but do you want to bet your @$$ on it? Though this would make Trump a literal PITA.
