The inanity of wasting my time reading or responding about Phat overwhelmed me and I'm busy shooting and editing high speed video of incredible aerial dogfights, and mating and territorial displays of River Jewelwing damselflies that I have been trying to understand the last 5 seasons. This is my 1st time doing video with a DSLR camera, so there's been a learning curve, but today I got some amazing stuff. The files are huge though, 3 minutes is 150+ megabytes!
Anyway, carry on.

I have begun working with whole slide fluorescent microscopy which produces multi-level tiff image files that run in the 50 Gb range, so I feel your pain. Working with raw uncompressed image data gives you a better appreciation for how efficient and handy compression is.
