Man, I mowed 2 large yards today, for the first time this year, and I'm sore, good night. I'll check the spelling tomorrow.
Here in New Hampshire we won't have to mow the grass until well into May.

Re: what is a roostertail
If you can make the image web-accessible then you can post it. EvC doesn't itself host images, except for avatars. You could make it your avatar, as long as it's not too big (avatar images have a size limit so that they don't overwhelm the site's disk space).

Re: Eclipse Monday
I wasn't planning to do anything, but we live roughly an hour from totality, so maybe if we're not doing anything Monday we'll drive up. My daughter and her husband drove from Colorado to Missouri to see it. I think they're in Springfield now.
Sorry if it's already been discussed in this thread, but if I happen to go, what would I need for glasses and to take pictures with an iPhone. If I put on two pairs of sunglasses, would that be enough?

Re: Eclipse Monday
So I've got the glasses, and we could drive up tomorrow, but should we? Would we run into jammed roads and huge crowds, something we usually try to avoid? We'd be on Rt. 91 in Vermont around Barton.

Re: Clear skies with 6 hours to go
I'm headed north in about a half hour. They're saying there's a strong chance of traffic jams, so if traffic comes to a halt I'll turn around.

Re: Clear skies with 6 hours to go
Traffic came to a halt just north of Manchester, still about a hundred miles short of totality. I turned around.

Re: We saw it!!
Glad it went so well for you - sounds like you all had a great time. I had the same issue as you with the sun feeling so high in the sky.
What I should have done was get up at 5 this morning and drove up then. The drive back would have taken hours and hours with all the traffic, but it wouldn't have mattered.

Why do you think this?
While some may try to separate beliefs from scientific discussions, I believe that our faith should guide our interpretation of scientific evidence. Evolution, for example, is a theory that contradicts the biblical narrative of creation, and therefore should not be given the same weight as God's word.
Even if the Bible did contain God's actual words, why should they be given more weight than God speaking directly to us from the evidence of his own creation, the universe.

Re: A close encounter with a radio telescope
ChatGPT in Message 66 writes:
As a creationist, I firmly believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God and should be the ultimate authority in interpreting the world around us. The Bible provides us with a clear and definitive account of creation, and it is through this lens that we should view and interpret the evidence present in the natural world.
By what evidence and reasoning did you arrive at this conclusion?
While some may question why the Bible should be given more weight than observations of the natural world, I believe that God's word is infallible and should take precedence over human interpretations of scientific evidence. The beauty and complexity of the natural world only serve to affirm the truth found in the Bible, not contradict it.
This is a bald declaration completely lacking evidence. You believe God's word infallible, while I believe God's word not only very fallible but not even God's word. We disagree. How to resolve the disagreement? With evidence. Where's yours, first for God's existence, and second that he's the Biblical author?
In essence, I trust in the wisdom and authority of God as revealed in the Bible, and I see the evidence of creation as a manifestation of His divine plan.
If this world is evidence of God's divine plan then his plan must include disease, pestilence, drought, famine, earthquakes, tsunamis, tornados, hurricanes, floods, handicaps and wars. If God there be then it certainly isn't one who has much love for mankind.
It is through this perspective that I approach all scientific discussions, giving utmost importance to the biblical narrative and understanding of the world.
You haven't yet offered even an iota of evidence for any Biblical narrative, while scientific viewpoints have mountains of evidence.
