Well, yes, exactly. Phat is unable to recognize when he's been influenced to pass on other people's hate. You're probably right that he isn't experiencing hate himself when he expresses extreme insensitivity (I'm being kind) about vulnerable people in desperate situations, but he *does* do it over and over and over again, and at some point one has to stop making up excuses for him and call him on it.
