Re: Jimmy Buffett
Yeah, after he died I read he was a billionaire, so he didn't waste it all in Margaritaville. Some of his tunes seem to be ones that get stuck in my head easily.

I was going to list a number of them for you but then thought I do not want this covey of earworms bouncing in my head for the next two weeks. You’re on your own, Tany.

Dianne Feinstein Dies at 90
Ill for months and in poor health for years, Dianne Feinstein passed away yesterday at the age of 90. She served as mayor of San Francisco for ten years from 1978 to 1988, and served as senator from California from 1992 until her death.

Suzanne Somers, 77
from wikipedia:
Suzanne Marie Somers (October 16, 1946 – October 15, 2023) was an American actress, author, singer, businesswoman, and health spokesperson. She was cast in the television role of Chrissy Snow on Three's Company from 1977 to 1981 and as Carol Foster Lambert on Step by Step from 1991 to 1998.
Somers later wrote several books, including two autobiographies, four diet books, and a book of poetry. Her book, Ageless: The Naked Truth About Bioidentical Hormones (2006), about bioidentical hormone replacement therapy and the Wiley protocol, was heavily criticized. Her book, Knockout (2009), which promoted alternative cancer treatments was criticized by the American Cancer Society.

Suzanne Somers, 77 and so many others
In addition,
quote:
US actress Suzanne Somers has died at the age of 76 following a decades-long battle with cancer, her publicist has confirmed.
"Her family was gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday," reads a statement shared with media.
"Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life, and want to thank her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly."

I noticed her more than the countless images on the news of so many who are being killed so young. One of my best friends is fighting both lung and liver cancer. I loved Suzanne through her character in both of her television roles, but as I see so many deaths in the news media these days, I think I have a renewed love for life itself. Death is no friend.
Another newsworthy death that sickened me as well as President Biden was the stabbing death of the six year old Muslim boy due to an alleged hate crime.
Landlord charged with hate crimes after Muslim boy killed in Illinois
Suzanne brought me love. This war brings me sadness and pain. Death is inevitable but let us strive for peace and not rush things...for anyone.
I just had to open up.

Re: Suzanne Somers, 77
Weird...I never watched those tv shows so I had to look her up. Even weirder, I didn't recognize her at all, there were lots of photos, she's well known in American culture, but she's never been in my awareness as far as I can remember.

Re: Suzanne Somers, 77
I was aware of her because Three's Company was on TV when I was a horny teenager. I have a vague memory of her selling lotions, potions and notions. There are numerous TV and movie folk I am unaware of as I rarely watch TV or go to movies.

Re: Suzanne Somers, 77
I watch more tv than I should. My daughter and grandkids got me watching The Big Bang Theory and I guess I'm a sucker for a good love story, plus some of the characters reminded me of people in the real world. Almost every episode really made me laugh. It's funny how 22 minutes of weekly comedy can lift your spirits. For me, 97-99% of sitcoms are just too fucking stupid and repetitive to be bearable, but half an hour or so of good comedy each night just before sleep really helps me get to sleep and have untroubled sleep.

My problem with them is that the vast majority are based on embarrassing people. The laughs are cheap. As a person with anxiety issues, I can not watch shows like that. They make me extremely uncomfortable and self conscious.

Burt Young, 83
I always enjoyed his characters. He is one of the few Hollywood actors I think I would have enjoyed knowing on a personal level.

Matthew Perry-- A Friend to Many
NPR:
Actor Matthew Perry, best known for playing Chandler Bing on the hit TV show Friends, has died, according to multiple media outlets. He was 54 years old.
Perry was found dead of an apparent drowning at his Los Angeles home on Saturday, according to the Los Angeles Times, celebrity outlet TMZ and other reports.
Perry was cast in Friends, the sitcom that shot him to fame, at age 24. He starred as Chandler for the sitcom's entire 10-season run, a sarcastic yet affable commitment-phobe who later found love with the Type-A Monica Geller (Courteney Cox).
"I loved Chandler, I loved the show, and I also knew: Remember this, because it's going to be the best time of your life," Perry said in an ABC News Nightline interview with Diane Sawyer last year.
But behind the scenes, Perry struggled with addiction. He opened up about his decades-long excessive use of alcohol and pills in his memoir published last year, Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing. In the book, which he dedicated to fellow sufferers of addiction, he detailed his painful struggle with drug use and his related health problems: He said he'd spent half of his life in treatment, detoxed an estimated 65 times and underwent 14 surgeries
I first saw the report on Al Jazeera. They had one sentence. There are so many other deaths in the world right now, and each individual, whether known or unknown, left a mark in this life.
