See Jar? This is what I mean. Just seven messages back I posted two additional reasons highlighted in pink, yet you simply waived them off calling for reasons, as you've incessantly been repeating all the way down thread from your OP.
What two reasons Buz?
I see no reasons there that shows either how Israel stabilizes the Middle east or why we need Israel.
The cold war is over and I see no evidence of your imagined militant expansionist Muslims.
Who is the Militant Muslim Nation that is expansionist?
Let's look.
Egypt and Jordan have treaties with Israel. So does Syria and Lebanon but those treaties have not kept Israel from invading, occupying and holding Syrian and Lebanon territories.

Topic Synopsis In Light Of Current Conflict
jar writes:
The topic title really covers the question; how exactly does Israel stabilize the Middle East and why do we need Israel? (...)Is a menacing threat to all other Middle Eastern nations a stabilizing force?
Upon reflection, I will offer up a bold and unpopular assertion. The US needs Israel for two reasons.
  • Internal political pressure to support Israel. Many wealthy people have a vested interest. The question that no one wants to ask is what interest?
    jar writes:
Are you saying the purpose of Israel is to act as a tripwire for US actions?
I am suggesting that US interest fuels the military-industrial complex. That is not the only reason, however.

Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon all support science and education. So does Iran. What makes you think they turned their back on scientific knowledge?
Much of the poverty in the Middle East is by design and controlled by Israel. After all it is Israel that limits the power, water, jobs, materials, and investments in much of Palestine.
If poverty and fundamentalism are a problem, how does the existence of Israel moderate either factor?
It does not. The key issue is the conscience of Israel. As long as the United States supports them, Israel will continue to exist and thrive. Anthony Blinken made it quite clear that as long as the US exists, it will support Israel.
Israel currently has 9.17 million people. People are Israel's most vital resource.

Well, until Buz shows up and explains why he thinks the US needs Israel I guess we won't know.
So far his only attempt to explain his position was to provide a link to a news article from Binyamin Netanyahu. Of course, since Mr Netanyahu is the current Israeli Prime Minister that doesn't answer the question but might show why Israel needs the US.
I wonder if Buz understands that the Israeli Prime Minister represents Israel's interests, not the US's interests.
Note the underlined part. A question relevant for today would be to ask what are Israel's interests in 2023 and what are the U.S. interests in 2023.
    jar in 2010 writes:
There is also a somewhat longer and in-depth discussion of the Middle East at So let's look at why the Islamic world might be annoyed by the West?
So far I have not checked out if that link works but will edit it.
(I'm not sure jar will respond as he has been idle 226 days. I hope he is ok. )
Anyone else who remembers this thread is invited to respond.

Add By Edit: Upon reflection, I sent Percy a private message.
    It said:

Do you think I am dishonoring Buzsaw by reopening a thread with him in it? He was quite the character! jar has also been inactive for nearly a year and his health status is unknown by us.

I reopened it because jar asked such good questions back then--questions which are relevant even now.

Perhaps I could ask you to close that thread and I will repost the questions in the current thread about Israel. What do you think?
Does anyone think I errored in reopening an old thread with a deceased member?

Yes. We have an active Israel thread.

What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence. -Christopher Hitchens

Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts

"God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness.

If your viewpoint has merits and facts to back it up why would you have to lie?
