Its Been Two Months
This thread is about longtime EvC Member, ringo. Its been a couple of months now since he stopped posting here--and he dutifully posted several times a day for years. I wouldn't know how to get a hold of him, as he lives in Saskatchewan, Canada and I usually don't bother members that no longer post unless the reason for their absence is unexpected and/or unusual. If anyone here does know how to get a hold of him, please check up on him to make sure he is OK.
Percy, if you have his email, you might drop him a note to let him know that we are concerned. If all else fails, I may call the town library where he hung out nearly every day to see if they have noticed any longtime patrons that no longer come in.
Ringo was (and is) a quick wit, a worthy adversary at debate, and a man with a good heart towards those less fortunate in his local town. He got me to think many a time when I thought I had all the answers. If he is gone, he will be sorely missed by most of us.

City Uncertain
I'm not certain of which Saskatchewan City he lived in, though there are only two of any major size. (Regina and Saskatoon) roughly 225,000 people each.) I DO know that he hung out at the local public library nearly every day, as he had no internet at home.
Im just worried for his health is all. Leaving EvC may have been a wise move if he in fact chose it, but it seemed rather abrupt.
Also I realize that member emails are not public but I wondered if he had a private email that only you and Moose have access to. If not, one can only pray that he is OK.

I suppose that I'll just give it another month before I REALLY start to worry. What I would do is call that library and ask for a staff member. Explain to them that you had an internet friend who communicated daily for years and who was at the library nearly every day...and that now you hear crickets. Ask them if any daily regulars are noticeably missing and if so, well....I guess that his anonymity is important so you may reach a block at that point.
We don't even know his real name.
His last day of responding to posts was February 10th. That day, he responded to 5 posts. He was known for answering nearly every reply that people sent to him. Perusing the content of February 10th, I do not see where he was offended or in any way tired of our forum, but it does happen.

Clues
He once had this quote on his posts:
"I've been to Moose Jaw, now I can die." -- John Wing
Could it be he lives there?

Ringo is M.I.A. for now
Yes, lets hope for the best.
Im wondering if any of this is my fault. I can be an argumentative ass at times and I know I pissed off jar.
Maybe I need to take some time off.
If it brought ringo back it would be well worth it for me.

Re: Modulous Checks In
I was reciting a movie line from Joe Peschi in Goodfellows which was essentially my intent.
(funny haha I guess )
Im just glad to see Mod back...if but for a minute. That means she is ok.

What I Miss About Ringo
ringo was the perfect person to debate with.
  • His replies would always answer and challenge mine.
  • He did it (usually) with a sense of humor.
  • Though he never identified as atheist, agnostic or ex-believer per se, he often echoed Stile by declaring that Christian Belief was fiction while at the same time challenging me on my own purported (he would say phony) Christian Belief. His basic argument was that profession means nothing. Action means everything.
He was a literary serve and volley-er, returning every point that was made with a rebuttal, addendum,or counterpoint of his own. He answered nearly every post addressed to him.

    Still Missing & Im worried
After 3 solid months, ringo is still missing. This is unlike him. I know that many of our members are often gone for a year or more, but something tells me that ringo is a different situation. I don't know what to do. Percy already tried calling the library and that would be the only thing I would have thought of. Any other ideas?
