Willowtree,
A point of agreement between us concerns the role of spiritual headship, what I think of as "jointedness" to the body. Also, there is the matter of obedience to the commandments of Jehovah, an recorded in scripture. What He told me was that, as the members of my body must be connected to other members in order to get neural input from my brain or head, so we generally need to be properly connected to the body of Christ to hear Yeshua, the head, speak to us. Or to be fed by the Holy Spirit. So, I form such a joint with a spiritual authority, and expect that I will hear spiritually when I am with that person. Also, the "hearken to My voice" passages in the scriptures are often connected with doing God's law, or keeping His commandments. So, especially when I was learning to know His voice, I asked Him to speak to me about how to obey these commandments. He spoke very clearly in those times.
Where we differ is regards preaching, which I cannot find in scripture as recommended when applied to the church. My connection to the body commands me, and counsels with me. But he only preaches to the heathen.
Perhaps some of our other differences stem from the fact that I call myself a disciple or follower of Yeshua, not a protestant. When I came to Him asking to hear Him speak, He said very clearly that to be a part of any Christian demonination or faction made clear understanding or hearing Him very difficult.
Thanks for "letting the prophets prophecy."
