Re: Afhghanistan and Global Perspective
A person of integrity waits until he knows the truth before speaking. You're just spreading Republican panic points.
I do not knowing spread Republican panic points. I spread what I hear from Libertarians. Libertarians are not Republicans.
From their website:
quote:
As Libertarians, we seek a world of liberty — a world in which all individuals are sovereign over their own lives and no one is forced to sacrifice his or her values.
We believe that respect for individual rights is the essential precondition for a free and prosperous world, that force and fraud must be banished from human relationships, and that only through freedom can peace and prosperity be realized.(...)When you pay taxes, do you do so voluntarily? Or do you do so because you are forced to do so?
If you don’t pay your taxes, what will happen? Will you be fined further? Harassed by the IRS or other government entities? Jailed?
The Libertarian Party is fundamentally opposed to the use of force to coerce people into doing anything. We think it is inherently wrong and should have no role in a civilized society.
Thus we think that the government forcing people to pay taxes is inherently wrong.
Libertarians advocate for voluntary exchange, where people are free to make their own choices about what to do with their lives, their time, their bodies, their livelihood, and their dollars.
If Americans want to give money to the government for one reason or another, they should be free to do so. If Americans prefer to spend their money on other things, then they should be free to do that also.

Re: The Coming Republican Apocolypse
How is it that Republicans are a minority and yet have that much political influence?? First of all they are not as appealing as they used to be. Second they will never let go of Trump.
Wht cant the Democrats find a candidate that conservatives could grow to like?

Why Is Biden Selling SPR Reserves To China?
In a story that I originally saw on Yahoo Finance, SPR oil is being sold to China! This is the last straw. Biden is inept at best, clueless at worst.
quote
Biden's Energy Department in April announced the sale of 950,000 Strategic Petroleum Reserve barrels to Unipec, the trading arm of the China Petrochemical Corporation. That company, which is commonly known as Sinopec, is wholly owned by the Chinese government. The Biden administration claimed the move would "address the pain Americans are feeling at the pump" and "help lower energy costs." More than five million barrels of oil released from the U.S. emergency reserves, however, were sent overseas last month, according to a Wednesday Reuters report. At least one shipment of American crude went to China, the report said.
This administration is doing as much damage to Americans and public interest as Trump ever did.

I'm not saying anything implying a preference for Trump. He did his damage also, and should never again be allowed in politics. I'm just saying that Uncle Joe is not too bright OR>>>he is pacifying extremist ideologies.

Re: Why Is Biden Selling SPR Reserves To China?
Its just that I was under the impression that strategic petroleum reserve fuel was earmarked to help lessen domestic costs of gasoline for Americans...not Chinese.

Re: More mainstream news media cover-up
I usually compare 5 or even ten different news sources to arrive at some sort of consensus in my own mind about whats going on. And I don't pick and choose only conservative or only liberal.

Re: Why Is Biden Selling SPR Reserves To China?
For starters, I have paid into it.
Secondly, I am not nor have ever been against limited socialism. We need a police dept. We need a fire dept. We need retirement for those who have earned it. What we don't need is unregulated handouts to anybody and everybody.

Biden Our Time being fair and balanced
Dont they already do that with State Lotterys? Oh wait....the rare times people win any significant amount, they are likely problem gamblers and spend it back into the system....thus not helping themselves at all.
I don't believe in showering money on people who have not earned it, yet I am (or have been) a problem gambler. There was many a day that I even prayed that I would win...which in retrospect was silly and desperate. As I became more rationally minded and sober, I realized how much of my money was squandered in the quest for a guarantee of an easier life. So nowadays, I watch other people (mainly poor folks) squander their money the same way that I did.(There are two lottery ticket machines next to self checkout at work) Gambling never helped Colorado, apart from becoming another form of taxation which preyed on an addiction.

Biden Our Time
Percy writes:
How does one compensate a group for past racial discrimination that has left them with lower incomes, lesser prospects, subpar educations, worse housing, poorer health, and greater likelihood of incarceration and death?
For starters, the "group" should never be taught that they are owed something. Everyone should be taught that hard work and obedience to the same set of rules as everyone else is the way that a system is supposed to work. No one should ever be discriminated against, and better awareness of the scope and reality of the injustice should be the goal of public information.
Percy writes:
Oh, wait, it hasn't been mentioned once in this thread up until now.
And I was venting. When I perceive any hint of unfairness against me, I get uppity. Your reply did give me a chance to think about why such a thing might have irritated me, and actually provide me with a glimpse about how the other sides must feel. Unfairness...discrimination..is an ugly reality which needs to be dealt with.
If there were any truth to your claim that you get your information from a multiplicity of sources (a ludicrous claim on its face given the things you say) then what you say would reflect that.
You do have a point.
You're not yet the person you claim you want to be, informed, balanced and fair, so you may as well stop making claims that you are, because it's obvious to everyone that you aren't.
It is who I want to be. I want fairness but I don't believe in overtaxing the middle class while helping the lower class and watching the rich sit on the sidelines.
This whole darn world is groaning. I'm nobody special.

Re: Biden Our Time
The rich already pay the lions share of all taxes collected. Im certainly not against taxing them more, but what ends up happening is that the bill always get presented to the earnings class one level below the Forbes 400. Im not in that class either, but the more the upper classes get taxed, the more they will shift the bill to the masses.
The bottom line is that we ALL are in debt to our society, ourselves, and our planet.
And the bill is unpayable. Soaking the rich wont eliminate this giant bill, at this point.
We all are screwed.

Another thing I worry about is the mandatory taxation of all global citizens. It will likely solve your challenge of taxing the rich, but it will force everyone on the planet to comply with a one world financial system. This is no mere Charismaniacal fantasy. It is quite possible and sooner than anyone thinks.
I do not like the idea of government knowing where every dime I have is and being able to access it.

Social Insecurity
I will draw out $21,600.00 a year.
I will have to check what I have paid in over my lifetime.
Its been over 30 years of earnings, however.
I think you don't know what socialism is.
Ive examined the term several times. Why dont you tell me what it is?
Percy writes:
And what about those who haven't "earned it"? Or what about those who earned it but then through the vagaries of life find themselves entering their retirement years with nothing?
What do you propose that we do? Im one of those who is entering my retirement years with very little. (Under $20,000.00)
