Re: China Has More To Lose Than Anyone Else
Tough. It's not our sole job to save the planet
China has bought our T-Bills and supported our inflated dollar for close to 50 years. When they (soon)dump those T-Bills back on us, you will see the result. They have lured us with cheap merchandise and allowed us to feed our standard of living at their own peoples expense! (The CCP is straight up manipulative and evil) Now you are telling me that WE should pay the bill and not them?
If my vote has anything to do with it, we wont pay the bill. They will.
If our economy takes a hit, theirs will also. If they want to be the next global power, they will have to work for it!
The US is tired of supporting the world. (and paying most of the bills)
We are not globalist leaders suckered into paying everything while our middle class suffers. (And the rich will NEVER pay the bill.) The policies you support will shift the burden onto the US middle class. But not today. Not on my watch.

Re: China Has More To Lose Than Anyone Else
You are claiming that China should spend more than anyone else while implying they have the most money. This just isn't true.
The American people have the money. The government itself is living on borrowed money. No political party has the right to take money from the people and use it to bail out the government. (And yet they will try)
Sure we should invest in renewable green energy. But first we need to come up with the money to do it...to help ourselves and not everybody.
Taq writes:
You assume that China dumping T-bills will hurt the US.
When every other nation sees it happening, it will be like yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theater. The dollars days are numbered. (Though likely a digital dollar will replace it, revalued of course)
As it stands, the US is perhaps the strongest economy in the world at the moment.
Get back to me in 6 months. We will see who emerges once the dust settles.

Yes, I suffer with entitlement issues, I will admit. Im not simply some third world body. I am an American and I lament the demise of our Great Society. The Wealthy stole the American Dream from the rest of us. Im pissed!

Communism as a concept isn't evil, per se. One could argue that Marxist philosophies are evil in certain ways, I would agree there. However, the idea of the workers owning the means of production isn't evil in and of itself. What was evil is the groups of people who implemented communism.
The threat they pose is not because of their economic policies, which have become quite capitalist in the last few decades.
Oh but it is! It is in fact an economic war.
To start with, as I frame this argument, lets discuss Modern Monetary Theory.|
I will finish later, as I have to (am blessed to be able to) go to work right now. I will attempt to explain how the US Economy came off of the rails starting in the early seventies and worsening every year since then.

Re: Ex-Spurts: Drips Under Pressure
And I won't say I told you so when things unravel. You are the financial "expert" after all. Its likely that the peanut gallery will find a way to blame the Republicans, even though they are smarter with money than the Democrats.
One thing that can be blamed, however: (From Investopedia)
Modern Monetary Theory (MMT): Definition, History, and Principles
So who is the mastermind that developed such a theory?
It figures he is a Democrat!! Warren Mosler!
Of course he only has a B.A. in economics, but his work has been translated into several languages. And sorry to break it to the peanut gallery BUT HE IS WRONG!
I know. God told me. And in a way, i'm glad that the majority of you disagree with me.
Mark the date: 3/19/2023 is when I stated this.

Re: Ex-Spurts: Drips Under Pressure
Because its a bad theory. Im quite certain that it will unravel within 3 years at the most. I can eat crow then, if it fails to be as chaotic as I see it being. Until then I have nothing more to say.
Im not afraid to be wrong, but in this instance I am 95% certain I see the handwriting on the proverbial wall.

You bring up a good point. Global debt is over 100 trillion dollars. Modeern Monetary Theory seems to think that it is no big deal. It takes no Rocket Scientist to question their conclusions!
Wiki:
Modern Monetary Theory or Modern Money Theory is a heterodox macroeconomic theory that describes currency as a public monopoly and unemployment as evidence that a currency monopolist is overly restricting the supply of the financial assets needed to pay taxes and satisfy savings desires.
Of course Bernie Sanders and Alexandra Occasio Cortez both champion MMT. Public Monopoly, my ass!
If money belonged to all of us, we all would have equal stake in "it". Which is patently unfair. Why should the guy passed out under the park bench have an equal share with the hardworking father or mother who holds down 3 jobs? Im not saying that the drunk has no share. Im simply saying that there is no way he has earned his share. At best, we can provide basic food, shelter, and medical needs for him while guiding him towards recovery. What we cant do is rob the hard working opportunists in order to support the idle. equal distribution equates to global socialism. And if the CCP is in line to be the next global superpower, that simply will not work. Wake up, people!

Yes, ive read quite a lot about it. And I feel insulted that Dalio approves of it. He just wants to keep his 17 billion dollars afloat along with the rest of the funny money.

Re: Grinding America Down
Im not a fan of people who support MMT. If Dalio supports it, he is indeed taken off of my list of trustworthy sources. There are several reasons why I am against it.
Taken from this source: Modern Monetary Theory (MMT): Definition, History, and Principles
Investopedia:
Core Principles of Modern Monetary Theory (MMT)
The central idea of modern monetary theory is that governments with a fiat currency system under their control can and should print (or create with a few keystrokes in today’s digital age) as much money as they need to spend because they cannot go broke or be insolvent unless a political decision to do so is taken. (...) Some say such spending would be fiscally irresponsible, as the debt would balloon and inflation would skyrocket. But according to MMT:
  • Large government debt isn’t the precursor to collapse that we have been led to believe it is;
  • Countries like the U.S. can sustain much greater deficits without cause for concern; and
  • A small deficit or surplus can be extremely harmful and cause a recession since deficit spending is what builds people’s savings.
MMT theorists explain that debt is simply money that the government put into the economy and didn’t tax back. They also argue that comparing a government’s budgets to that of an average household is a mistake.
While supporters of modern monetary theory acknowledge that inflation is theoretically a possible outcome from such spending, they say it is highly unlikely and can be fought with policy decisions in the future if required.

Meanwhile, the BRICS nations plan on forming a new Global Reserve Currency backed by Gold, which China has been accumulating at an accelerating pace. In essence, the "temporary experiment" that Nixon started in 1971 will be ended by China, our primary competitor...while we play tiddly winks with fiat money backed by nothing.

I have read several books by people who study this stuff for a living.
Stealth War: How China Took Over While America's Elite Slept
Wiki:
The book outlines, and gives examples of, a number of American grievances with PRC policies such as:
Intellectual property theft
Chinese Communist Party infiltration of domestic society and institutions
The erosion of domestic political and economic institutions
Unfair and unequal trade practices
Chinese espionage in the United States
Foreign investment manipulation
Debt trap diplomacy and the Belt and Road Initiative

I have studied all of these things and perhaps the only major argument that your side can muster is, predictably, the fact that my information is coming from a Conservative perspective which will be countered with your usual bunch of liberal countercrap. (What do I mean by that?) You will argue that China does not have to be an enemy or even an adversary. You will argue that there is nothing wrong with trying to preserve the global fiat money system and that it is the conservatives who are clamoring for a financial collapse.
There is a lot of deception in the world today, and I've got news for you. It is not only coming from conservative sources. And I happen to think that Robert Spalding is a reputable source.
