Re: Burning The Candle At Both Ends
quote:
While the mate was getting the hammer, Ahab, without speaking, was slowly rubbing the gold piece against the skirts of his jacket, as if to heighten its lustre, and without using any words was meanwhile lowly humming to himself, producing a sound so strangely muffled and inarticulate that it seemed the mechanical humming of the wheels of his vitality in him.
Receiving the top-maul from Starbuck, he advanced towards the main-mast with the hammer uplifted in one hand, exhibiting the gold with the other, and with a high raised voice exclaiming: “Whosoever of ye raises me a white-headed whale with a wrinkled brow and a crooked jaw; whosoever of ye raises me that white-headed whale, with three holes punctured in his starboard fluke—look ye, whosoever of ye raises me that same white whale, he shall have this gold ounce, my boys!”
“Huzza! huzza!” cried the seamen, as with swinging tarpaulins they hailed the act of nailing the gold to the mast.
“It’s a white whale, I say,” resumed Ahab, as he threw down the topmaul: “a white whale. Skin your eyes for him, men; look sharp for white water; if ye see but a bubble, sing out.”

Not according to the Catholic Church ... which is all that matters. I'm not interested in what the amateurs and charlatans have to say.

WRONG. There, now was that so hard? And by the way, the Book of Acts was considered to be written by Luke.
Modern Scholars can go back to playing tiddly winks with their cow chips.

AZ, the one-legged Ahab thought that he was cool until
he came upon some titan mud fossils.
Then he kind of slunk away.
The one-legged man could not explain how they fit into
his misguided paradigm.

Ahab is a fictional character and so are mud fossils.

I was relaying passages from a fictional story just as candle2. I don't think he caught it though. I hate it when my blade misses its mark.

To be expected though, he's a religious nutjob.

Out of curiosity, which modern scholars are you listening to?

Me neither. One of the main differences between Roman Catholics and Protestants is that the RCC cites the church as its primary authority whereas the PROTS cite the Bible itself.
From this basic information stems many divergent and erratic rabbit trails. The true church came directly from the Book of Acts in the upper room. Any disagreement there?
The mugwumps were NOT in the upper room. The Spaghetti Monster was NOT in the upper room. Long John Silver was NOT in the upper room. Peter was. Yet He was not in charge. The Holy Spirit was.
