I would assert that atheism in general defends secular humanism as a superior worldview. Then again, what do I know?
The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of a doubt, what is laid before him.” - Leo Tolstoy, The Kingdom of God is Within You (1894). When both religious and non-religious people reach the same conclusions then you know religion isn't the reason.--Percy Democrats should not be the only party. But you refuse to discuss apologetics. You dismiss all of them as goobers before I can defend the arguments. I'll start again, though. I'm not done dodging your six shooters quite yet.The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of a doubt, what is laid before him.” - Leo Tolstoy, The Kingdom of God is Within You (1894). Maybe we should have an Edisons Day, a Michaelangelo Day, and a George Washington Carver Day! Heck, Elon Musk could even sponsor a Tesla Day!
Seriously...I looked it up.
quote:The UN is observing it? Sounds like you secular humanist Globalists have found a hero! The cause does sound noble, though. Happy Darwin Day!

This is going to be a back and forth shootout. I hope. A blowout would be tragic.

Don't tease me with Gaia. The entire Multiverse known and unknown was created by a Being far superior to her lame New Age Spector. But convincing you is impossible since you hate Theism so much. Ive got one word for you, Pagan: Jesus. (Yeshua) No high stepping Catholic statue can compete. No New Age Pagan concept from anywhere on Planet Earth can come close. No Religion can hold up unless it acknowledges Jesus.
Through Him all things were created. All seen and unseen. And the fact that you secular weirdos get so angry shows me that the spirits (which plague you) are angry. Tough. Go jump on a starship and get the hell out of here.

Mr.Deity actually makes sense. I must admit.
And the fact that Dennis Prager even lets him speak shows me that Mr.Deity is the mouse who pulled the thorn out of the lions paw and scared the elephant. I examined the man Dalton and was impressed with is social media presence and honesty. You guys (Peanut Gallery) will probably accuse him of being a Conservative but last time I checked it was no crime. Edited by Phat, .

A bit of an antichrist spirit trying to dampen the day, but of course its all as powerless as a human attempt to define reality Humans don't need religion to behave badly...they manage quite nicely without it See? I vanquished any bad spirits with a single thought! I AM the Anti Egg!
(Sad And Useless.com? Oh come on, AZ Antitheist! You can do better than that!)

Don't you get it? Jesus is a Nobody. Its all Spirit. The problem these days is that people listen to the wrong one. The world has a plethora of "spirits" vibes, and human feelings. If it feels good, follow it! Better yet, Lead it!! And to you, the foundation is all based on math and data. AI will soon best us at that! The only way that humans will identify themselves apart from AI is through the emotional side of the brain. We agree on one thing. One must sift through the bullshit and the con.

Just because you have never found evidence nor reason for inspiration does not mean that you should remain angry over a belief that you have only come to judge based on what others tell you.
I fear you will always hate theism based on what you have concluded from the minds of others.

nwr writes: There is with AZPaul3. What else would you call it? It is straight up anti-theism. Its not enough that he doesnt believe. He insists that future generations be compelled and persuaded NOT to believe. To me, that looks like anger. There's no anger here. It certainly makes me angry to a degree, because I happen to believe that its a crime to not at least give future generations an opportunity to decide for themselves with no pompous critical thinker encouraging them to doubt and feeding them a bunch of propaganda from mythicists and other skeptics all the while avoiding having them persuaded by an apologist from the other side. You(your side) says that religion is a myth. (as if that were a fact)You (your side)says that all wars are caused by it. (Lets start with Ukraine. How has religion fueled that war?) Many anti-theists mock God and mock the very idea that such a Being could even exist. To be fair in this argument, I will admit that the theists themselves do not help their own cause these days, starting with their behavior.

AZAnti writes: I disagree. When I became a believer, it was not because I believed what others told me. I hardly knew them and would not have chosen to hang out with them. I was not fooled into accepting something(someOne) that did not appear to be real as real. I FELT AND EXPERIENCED THE CHANGE. The change was subtle the first day but was absolutely a 180 degree turn the next day. Perhaps the main difference between myself and many of you is that I did not question it. Why should I? I felt better than I had for many many years. Had my church at that time been openly political, I would have seen through that charade. What they taught was that a relationship with a higher power was personal and real. Phat, theism IS from the minds of others. That is the only place it resides. Recently , I have lost a lot of that. It has made me a cranky person. I think I am like an adult child, rebelling against old age and refusing to take responsibility for my inner growth. Ironically, a bunch of atheists and secular humanists helped. Even though few of you believe that Jesus is alive and real, you caused me to think it out for myself. Time will tell where I end up.

All that that old orthodox priest is doing is ritualistically blessing the guns. I suppose that it could be inferred that the message was that killing the enemy was ok with God. Those soldiers would do the same thing Priest or no Priest, however. Perhaps they just needed assurance that God would accept them despite their profession. Would you rather have drones or heartless zombies killing you?

AZDoozie writes: Ya know, I saw a good article by a man named David W.Smith over at The Secular Web. Percy defanged my ability to post any sort of links, which I find insulting, so I will simply tell you the title of the article to look up.
Too lazy to look for long but I do not find a topic specifically anti-theist at its base. We have plenty of religious topics where we heathens bite and scratch at idiots, and science topics where religionists go nuts trying to piss down the edifice of physics. But there is no topic that is specifically labeled as anti-theist.The intent is to provide a playground more amenable to directly insulting and rubbing societies nose in the stupidity of their theisms. Why I Am Not a Christian (and Am an Atheist… and Antitheist) I was going to post this response in Percys new atheism thread but thought it more appropriate here. Some excerpts:
quote: In conclusion, I reject the evidence-based materialistic approach to reality. I don't think that modern belief is that harmful to future generations. At worst, it is better than the secular-based wokeness pervading modern thought. Granted, George Carlin (R.I.P.) exposed the humor of vacuous belief. Humans are often so funny. I won't even attempt to defend the fact that I am a pick-and-choose believer. My defense? Its all on God.

I just *knew* that the peanut gallery would challenge and call out the definition of wokeness! I figured that Theodoric would beat you to it and demand evidence!
Now see what you have done. I need to produce a working definition of wokeness beyond my chosen reaction to it...which is to vilify it as being too liberal. (Therefore godless!) You have anticipated my chess move well.
