From wikipedia:
"Ian Dawson Tyson CM AOE (September 25, 1933 – December 29, 2022) was a Canadian singer-songwriter who wrote a significant number of modern folk songs, including “Four Strong Winds" and "Someday Soon", and performed with partner Sylvia Tyson as the duo Ian & Sylvia." I spent much time listening to them and also others covering their tunes during The Great Folk Scare of the 60's."I'm the Grim Reaper now, Mitch. Step aside." Death to #TzarVladimirtheCondemned! on 3rd thought, AZPaul3, it must have been rather rude of me to post so soon after your post. for 8 days there was nothin. Then i hear about Ian Tyson, write it and hit POST only to have it replace your post in Percy's listing. i should always hit the REFRESH button first!
i'm not sure I ever liked the SNL Baba Wawa, but anyway, thanks!"I'm the Grim Reaper now, Mitch. Step aside." Death to #TzarVladimirtheCondemned! Enjoy every sandwich! - xongsmith, 5.7dawkins scale

Burt Bacharach - Wikipedia
well, another chapter closes... Bacharach is described by writer William Farina as "a composer whose venerable name can be linked with just about every other prominent musical artist of his era". A "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" kinda guy who collaborated with Hal David mostly, writing for Dionne Warwick and others. Percy! it seems that Stella Stevens died at 84.
I remember her from The Ballad of Cable Hogue, but if memory serves me better than it seems to be doing these days, I think she also did a spread for Hugh Hefner's magazine back in the day."I'm the Grim Reaper now, Mitch. Ricou Browning - Wikipedia
Our family was in St. Augustine during filming of the 2nd Creature Of The Black Lagoon. They decided they needed a science lab in the fim and chose the lab my dad was working in at the time. But when they got there, they changed it to get retorts bubbling over Bunson burners rather than the genuine boring stuff. My younger brother, 3 at the time, was absolutely terrified when dad held him out to Ricou, dripping in his costume at the marina as they were getting some shots of him swimming around in their pool. i vaguely also remember a student film parody made during the movie shooting that we all got to sit in some room and watch. one of the student actors was filmed over and over falling from the top of a building with ketchup in his shirt. i think at the end when the police chase the Creature to the edge of a lake carrying the girl, that that was when the girl waved them off and decided to go with the Creature... Willis Reed Jr. (June 25, 1942 – March 21, 2023) was an American professional basketball player, coach, and general manager. He spent his entire professional playing career (1964–1974) with the New York Knicks. In 1982, Reed was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. In 1996, he was voted one of the "50 Greatest Players in NBA History". In October 2021, Reed was again honored as one of the league's greatest players of all-time by being named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.
After retiring as a player, Reed served as assistant and head coach with several teams for nearly a decade, then was promoted to general manager and vice president of basketball operations (1989–1996) for the New Jersey Nets. As senior vice president of basketball operations, he helped to lead them to the NBA Finals in 2002 and 2003. Willis Reed - Wikipedia The part a few of us at rec.sport.basketball-pro talked about was the 1970 Championship, when Reed came out of the lockerroom, hobbled by injuries, and defeated the Lakers who had Wilt Chamberlain by then and still had Jerry West. As wikipedia has it, Reed's most famous performance happened on May 8, 1970, in game seven of the 1970 NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers in Madison Square Garden.[12] Due to a severe thigh injury, a torn muscle that had previously kept him out of game six, he was considered unlikely to play in game seven. However Reed surprised the fans by walking onto the court during warmups, prompting widespread applause. Starting the game, he scored the Knicks' first two field goals on his first two shot attempts, his only points of the game. After the game in the winner's locker room, a moved Howard Cosell told Reed on national television, "You exemplify the very best that the human spirit can offer."["I'm the Grim Reaper now, Mitch.
