ringo writes: Funny you should say that since you're always preaching AGAINST equality. Allow me to clarify. I am against financial equality since it allows the government to tax the middle class in order to pay the bills that the poor can't pay and the rich wont pay. While I understand your basic mantra that a rising tide lifts all boats, (which in principle is superior to trickle-down economics) I lament the fact that the bills seem to be increasing (lately almost exponentially) and that inflation itself is a hidden tax. I believe that in America a small businessman should be unencumbered from earning more than his less ambitious (or financially strapped) neighbors without having his hard work taxed to lift up the masses out of poverty. They need to work too.
ringo writes: And of course you have no evidence apart from your own conclusions...nor do any of you. In fact, I think that you all are against the belief based on the evolution and impact of right wing politics. Were Jesus to whisper to your conscience some night, perhaps not long from now, you would be a fool to dismiss your experience as madness.
Well, of course there is no rescuer.ringo writes: The world can't fix itself without draconian authoritarian meddling from what you will initially see as necessary government intervention. The world WILL have to fix itself. And I'm not being negative. I'm being realistic. This book stirred up yet more questions (and concerns) regarding the future of the human race. Im listening to it on Audible.
Amazon writes: Dr. Kai-Fu Lee - one of the world’s most respected experts on AI and China - reveals that China has suddenly caught up to the US at an astonishingly rapid and unexpected pace. In AI Superpowers, Kai-fu Lee argues powerfully that because of these unprecedented developments in AI, dramatic changes will be happening much sooner than many of us expected. Indeed, as the US-Sino AI competition begins to heat up, Lee urges the US and China to both accept and to embrace the great responsibilities that come with significant technological power. Most experts already say that AI will have a devastating impact on blue-collar jobs. But Lee predicts that Chinese and American AI will have a strong impact on white-collar jobs as well. Is universal basic income the solution? In Lee’s opinion, probably not. But he provides a clear description of which jobs will be affected and how soon, which jobs can be enhanced with AI, and most importantly, how we can provide solutions to some of the most profound changes in human history that are coming soon. I worry about the whole universal basic income thing. It sounds biased aganst private property rights and portends a demise of the good old boys network that so many of you want to see fall. The impact of AI on the global future will increase the gap between the haves and the have nots. As usual, the victims will be the once flourishing middle class. To be continued...

I've had this book a while now, and listen to it over and over in the audio cassette player in the car. Theodoric, wag that he is, will likely go to internet infidels to copypaste someone else's counterclaims to the book's efficacy and apologetic value in general, though I find the book encouraging.

I am NOT humbled by foolish people saying something stupid. Wanna know what will save the world? Art and Music. The Left Brain. The right brain has been hijacked by rationality and data, which will soon marry artificial intelligence and morph into something nonhuman or inhuman. Art, Music, Creativity and belief will outgun logic, reason, and data most every time. Your right brain came from the tree of knowledge. ringo writes: Nonsense. Humans have not been around all of the time nor will they be here at some point in time. "Time itself" is synonymous with infinity and/or infinite wisdom. Though I dont claim to have infinite wisdom, I feel that I can be in communion with infinite wisdom. This belief in no way means that I know when I will be right...since im a finite being. You just claimed that "time itself" would demonstrate that you are right. That's the exact opposite of admitting you don't know everything. ringo writes: Not in my courtroom. The jury is in. ringo: John 12:40 writes:
"He has blinded their eyesand deadened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn-and I would heal them." 2 Corinthians 4:4-6 writes: 2 Cor 4:4-64 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. 6 For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. ringo writes:

Chapter One: Race
Chapter One:Chapter One goes on to discuss the evolution of CRT(Critical Race Theory) and of its effects on society-at-large. Many progressives have been bamboozled through CRT. Chapter One writes:
...one of the distinguishing marks of CRT was that its assertions were based not on evidence, as it might previously been understood, but essentially on interpretations and attitudes. (...)the rules of CRT had no need for normal standards of evidence. If a person's "lived experience" could be attested to, then the question of "evidence" or "data" had to find a place further back in the queue, if at all. In other words, it became "sufficient to fall back simply on the evidence of one's own perceptions". Theodoric has yet to explain why one cannot be racist against white people. I await his scintillating logic! AddByEdit: Here are the Chapters:

That's all rather interesting but where do you get the idea that the author of the book was racist?
The point of this screed is that it is all just a social construct. You have no idea what the DNA history is of the person you are talking to. We are all the same but we are all different. So you dismiss his observations and conclusions? Edited by Phat, . Who do you think profits from it in China itself? Capitalism may well be the global villain, but it seems to me to be a product of human nature. Take slavery. The African opportunists who gathered, betrayed and sold out their own people were more despicable than the Western buyers. And why is the West always vilified for slavery when every bit as much trade went East? They dont talk about Eastern Slaves as much due to the fact that they were often castrated and later killed.

Reparations writes: That's my source. We now need to find the authors source. It is impossible not to note how fantastically one-sided, ill-informed, and hostile this debate has become. No world forum ever concentrates seriously on any form of reparations that does not involve the West. And there is an obvious reason why there are no calls for reparations to Africans abducted into the slave trade that went East. Which is that the Arabs deliberately killed off the millions of Africans they bought. But there is little explanation as to why it is that today it is only Western former colonial powers or former slave-owning countries that are expected to pay any sort of compensation for sins of two centuries ago. Modern Turkey is not expected to pay money for the activities of the Ottoman Empire. An empire that, incidentally, ran on for twice as long as the empires of Europe did. After all these years, it is still only the sins of the West that the world—including much of the West—wish to linger over. I read the article. To sum it up, I got a quote from it:
Natalie Morris(author) writes: Thus I have your argument summarized. It will be interesting to compare with some of Murray's arguments. He is, after all, a Conservative, which is anathema to you! White people can indeed face stereotypical assumptions based on their skin colour and hence encounter racial prejudice. But this cannot be called racism, because of the inherent systemic imbalance of power between those with lighter skin colour and people of colour. Racial prejudice can affect people on an individual level, but it would not have the same effect on a larger social and cultural level because it is only when stereotypes are bolstered by power, such as through a eurocentric model of thinking, that it creates systemic and structural racism and oppression that people of colour have encountered throughout history. The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of a doubt, what is laid before him.” - Leo Tolstoy, The Kingdom of God is Within You (1894).
