Re: Jeff Beck
When I see so many names from my youth (such as Jeff Beck) I am reminded of my own mortality and how I, as all of us, am only here for a relatively short time. It makes me think!

Re: Jeff Beck
Why would I bother to think up insults and condescending comments about you when I can just throw the mud back at you that you sling at me? It saves mud.
Anyway, my intention was simply to honor the memory of Jeff Beck as I remember him.
You are the one who attacked me for my eulogy.

Re: Jeff Beck
My mistake. I was simply recounting my memories of knowing about him when I was growing up. I remember the super group of Paige,Clapton and Beck and I remember exploring his songs and style of guitar playing. We all endlessly discussed (and argued) about who was the greatest or best guitarist. I defended Beck, though the front runners were Hendrix vs Jimmy Paige.

At least you created the game of xong and helped start a few things in your life. You wont be like I am and be known as the grumpy old man who hated Republicans!

Dredge, please keep political comments out of the Tribute Thread. Our collective purpose is to honor those who have passed. It is not a place to discuss their politics nor to denigrate them or dance on their grave.

No, but you took a political swing in a tribute thread. Don't you think that was inappropriate? Just saying that... I'm not an administrator anymore.

Charles Stanley
Dr. Charles Stanley, a Pastor from Atlanta who encouraged and comforted millions across the globe, died at age 90.

Re: Gordon Lightfoot, 84
Open Mike Circuit? What is the connection between the late beloved songwriter
and Cray Supercomputers?
The only song that I knew from him (though he wrote many)
was The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald which had a history all its own.
Why would you call him Gordon Nanosecond?
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they called Gitche Gumee
The lake it is said never gives up her dead
When the skies of November turn gloomy

Tony Bennett-96
quote:
Tony Bennett, the legendary musician who won 19 Grammys throughout his iconic career, died on Friday in his hometown of New York. He was 96.
His publicist, Sylvia Weiner, confirmed the sad news to The Associated Press this morning. While his cause of death has not yet been confirmed, Bennett was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2016. Despite this, he continued to perform and record albums through 2021.
Bennett, who won 19 Grammys, a Lifetime Achievement Award, was a Kennedy Center Honoree and released more than 60 albums over the course of his career, was hailed by industry peer and friend Frank Sinatra as “the best singer in the business.”

Sinéad O'Connor
BBC:
Her rebellious nature was mainly driven by resentment at the abuse she suffered as a child and her experience in a Dublin reformatory.
It was music that rescued her, unleashing a creative talent that made her a worldwide music star - but also a rebel prepared to be controversial and never play the game of being an image-led pop star.
With her elfin features and skinhead look she was one of pop music's most recognizable figures.
Sinéad Marie Bernadette O'Connor was born on 8 December 1966 in the affluent Glenageary suburb of Dublin.

Suzanne Somers, 77 and so many others
In addition,
quote:
US actress Suzanne Somers has died at the age of 76 following a decades-long battle with cancer, her publicist has confirmed.
"Her family was gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday," reads a statement shared with media.
"Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life, and want to thank her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly."

I noticed her more than the countless images on the news of so many who are being killed so young. One of my best friends is fighting both lung and liver cancer. I loved Suzanne through her character in both of her television roles, but as I see so many deaths in the news media these days, I think I have a renewed love for life itself. Death is no friend.
Another newsworthy death that sickened me as well as President Biden was the stabbing death of the six year old Muslim boy due to an alleged hate crime.
Landlord charged with hate crimes after Muslim boy killed in Illinois
Suzanne brought me love. This war brings me sadness and pain. Death is inevitable but let us strive for peace and not rush things...for anyone.
I just had to open up.
