My Grocery store announced in the press that it was planning to merge with the other giant unionized chain in town, recently. King Soopers, Safeway parent companies agree to merge in $20 billion deal
This proposed merger is a national event...not just a local one.

Kroger, based in Cincinnati, Ohio, operates 2,800 stores in 35 states, including brands like Ralphs, Smith's, and Harris Teeter. Albertsons, based in Boise, Idaho, operates 2,273 stores in 34 states, including brands like Safeway, Jewel Osco, and Shaw's. Together the companies employ around 710,000 people.

At 63 years old, I am one of those 710,000.
