An "hypothesis" per se is just an idea floating around in someone's mind, not a practical use.Taq writes:
Routes for research that don't result in any practical advancement of medical science are meaningless ... and duh, useless.
It is absolutely a practical use. Finding routes for research is a very, very practical application for any theory.Dredge writes:
If the article you provided in Message 1109 describes a practical use in medical science or biology for the theory of UCD, what is it, exactly?Taq writes:
The article did not present any evidence that the hypothesis discussed therein resulted in the best animal models being selected. All the article presents is theorectical pie-in-the-sky ... hardly a practical use of UCD. The practical use is in selecting animal models that will yield the best results in biomedical research. However I did find more evidence that supports my claim that, like most Darwinoids, you're a bs-artist and a con-man.

Research based on the theory of UCD that results in no practical benefit means the theory of UCD is actually useful? Negative results are still useful. A teaspoon is useful for playing golf bcoz we tried it and got only negative results?

No, you did not. There were no interviews on NPR circa 1990.
I heard that in an interview on NPR circa 1990.

Macquarie insult of week: drongo
A drongo is a slow-witted or stupid person: a fool. This great Australian insult was originally an RAAF term for a raw recruit. It first appeared in the early 1940s, but its origin reaches back to the name of the racehorse Drongo, who ran around in the early 1920s. No Phar lap, Drongo was famed for its poor form, never winning a race, and was used as a character in the political cartoons of Sammy Wells that appeared in the Melbourne Herald. https://www.macquariedictionary.com.au/...he%20early%201920s.

The problem with your comment is that you can't produce a scientific paper that says "UCD was useful in developing the vaccine". LOL!! What a clown.

1. You never served in North Dakota. While serving internal exile in the cold part of North Dakota (what I would call my active duty assignment there), NPR became my primary source for world and national news (and for music, since the FM side played classical). 2. NPR is not available in North Dakota. 3. Classical music is not, and never has been, available on FM radio in North Dakota.

On the contrary, the article describes how Medzhitov noticed (from Hoffman's work) "that flies with defects in their toll genes became hypersusceptible to fungal infection." That observation gave Medzhitov the idea that toll genes might act as a sensor, and he then applied that idea to the human immune system. So what Medzhitov performed was simply an exercise in comparative physiology ... which doesn't require the theory of UCD. Taq writes:
"False"? Really? Where does the article support your claim that Medzhitov used "phylogenies" and "evolutionary histories" to come up with the idea of applying knowledge of toll genes in fruit-flies to humans? False. Scientists apply phylogenies which are based on evolutionary histories. It seems to me that your claim has no basis in fact (which is hardly surprising ... you are a Darwnoid, after all. Darwinoids make up bs stories and tell pork-pies all the time).
Dredge writes:
Darwinist propaganda in that passage, as if none of the knowledge described could have been gained without recognizing the "evolutionary connections".Taq writes:
Here you go again ... making up bullshit. Show me where even one scientist in the article refers to "evolution" or "the evolutionary history of life" or UCD. The knowledge was gained through our understanding of evolution and the evolutionary history of life The article mentions only scientists comparing non-human genes to human genes. Such comparisons don't require the theory of UCD. From Message 1188:"Two and a half years later, the idea of innate immunity in humans and its connections to defense in invertebrates had already taken hold. At least 150 scientists gathered at a National Academy of Sciences colloquium in Irvine, Calif., entitled “Virulence and Defense in Host-Pathogen Interactions: Common Features between Plants and Animals.” At the meeting, 12 researchers specifically discussed their work on toll in flies and “toll-like receptors”—as the mammalian versions are now known—and other aspects of innate immunity. Two dozen other scientists focused on patterns common to the insect and mammalian pathogens. By March 2001, scientists had found 10 other human toll-like receptors, including toll-like receptor 2, which Shizuo Akira, MD, and colleagues at Osaka University showed responds to a particular sequence found in bacterial DNA but not in mammalian DNA. To get an idea of how fast the field has grown since 1997, a literature search for the term “toll-like receptor” in 2022 brought up more than 56,000 abstracts.

I hadn't noticed. What is "trolling"?
They accuse you of trolling.I do note, however, that you spend a fair amount of time compiling a post.
I'm so sorry ... but you can't expect a quick response from an idiot with an IQ of only 9. "the words moron, imbecile, and idiot mean different things. In psychology, an idiot has the least intelligence on the IQ scale (this now is equivalent to someone who is mentally retarded or the more politically correct “mentally challenged”); an imbecile is not quite as dumb as an idiot and is now considered equivalent to moderate retardation; a moron is then the highest level of intelligence for someone who is mentally retarded, thus considered as being mildly mentally retarded. Specifically, those who have an IQ between 0 and 25 are idiots; IQs between 26 and 50 are considered imbeciles; and those who have an IQ between 51 and 70 are considered morons." The Words Moron, Imbecile, and Idiot Mean Different Things
You never commented on Message 1188 You only quoted it.
What about Message 1204?
I hear that Republicans spread propaganda.
Fascinating.
I hear that Democrats have an agenda. More to the point, I hear that Creationists lie and employ PRATTS, with little original thought. And then you accuse your opposition of being "Darwinoids".
Nothing.
Even if they accepted that label and applied it to the peanut gallery, what does that have to do with their intelligence? (or lack thereof) And where do you get the sources which you quote?
What "sources"? Which "quote"?

it's about a practical use in medical science or biology for the theory of UCD.ringoat writes:
Your quaint story is a fine example of Darwinoid delusion and fake history. I gave you that way, way, way, way back: Cow and pig insulin. It wasn't a creationist who thought of that. Somebody who knew about UCD said, "Hmm... maybe we can get a donations from our cousins the cows and pigs." Please cite a scientific paper that says the use of cow and pig insulin for humans would not have been possible without the theory of UCD. Good luck with that ... LOL!!
