Justice was served.
Jury awards nearly $1 billion to Sandy Hook families in Alex Jones case
I'm searching for comments on this case. My gut reaction, upon hearing the verdict was the title of this thread. Spreading lies attracts flies.

The Jury Is No Longer Out
The Jury is no longer out.
CNN writes:
A jury in Connecticut decided that the right-wing conspiracy theorist should pay eight families of Sandy Hook shooting victims and a first responder a staggering $965 million. (...) While Jones may face a reckoning, nearly a decade after his heinous lie about the Sandy Hook shooting, the corrosive blueprint that catapulted him to fame and fortune on the political right is here to stay.
It is impossible to unwind.
Comments? My personal opinion is that though Jones was somewhat entertaining in a National Enquirer sort of way, he crossed the line when using families who suffered heartrending losses from which they will never recover to make money on InfoWars. Jesus is likely not pleased with him at all. It will be interesting to watch the reaction from his side. If he thinks that he will ultimately make money from the publicity, he had better repent before he winds up in hell.

He is just some goober to me. I sized him up fairly accurately the first time I heard him.

Tucker Carlson & Kanye
Another public spectacle that I heard about was Conservative Black Rapper/Artist Kanye West and Tucker Carlson, your favorite!
Kanye is fascinating because he is conservative and a crazy genius.
Tucker can kiss my grits, however.

Re: Democrats hold the US Senate!
The old codger will get blamed for the next great economic recession/depression, which will hit within a year. He just isn't bright enough.

Biden isn't showing any (or very, very few) signs of his age from a mental point. Trump on the other hand seems much more confused than my father was at 85. It's silly to diagnose anything from watching him on TV but it seems to me that a serious degree of mental deterioration is one explanation for the bananas things he says every time he opens his mouth.
I'll agree with you here. Trump is certainly not my choice over Biden. He is indeed *worse* of a senility case than is Joe.
My point, however, is that Joe is a bit too old to manage the complex geopolitical issues that this era requires. Honestly, though...I see few bright political heirs on the horizon. I would entertain DeSantis if he divorced himself from Trump.

Some people are predicting a MILD recession within a year.

And you have the GALL to call yourself a moderate when you call Biden an "old codger" and you call Kamala Harris and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez "harpies"?
Don't I have a right to an opinion? The peanut gallery around here is in lockstep politically and wouldn't dare denigrate their prodigies in any way of course.
I think that America needs to step back and fix itself before it attempts geopolitical alliances, but that's just my opinion. We made a big mistake when we took our priorities away from oil and gas. It is too soon to make the switch. There is no way that 90% of our population could even afford an electric car. How are people supposed to get to work in the meantime? And draining the strategic petroleum reserve is not a solution.

Re: Recession?
Taq writes:
I think it is unfair to blame any president for normal business cycles of recessions and booms. These cycles are actually healthy for the economy. All we ask is that they don't make the cycles worse than they need to be.
Agreed. But I think the Federal Reserve has no firm grip on solutions. They are basically experimenting.
Theodoric writes:
What is pointing to a recession/depression?
Excessive QT (Quantitative tightening) will overcorrect and plunge us into a recession. I don't have to "prove it" to you since economists never agree anyway. Watch 2023 unfold.

Exterminate ALL of them!
xongsmith writes:
Honestly, I cannot fathom how a brain grew up to vote Republican! They should be exterminated!
Let's discuss this irrational extremism in detail. I have to go to work now, as my grocery store was purchased by the cross-town rival, and thanks to our Democratic State Attorney General, Phil Weiser, the deal is being investigated. Frontpage news.
I'm pro-Democrat when my job is on the line!
Denver Post discusses it here on the front page:
Merger of grocery titans: Cause of concern or a boon for consumers?
