Seth MacFarlane, eh? It's rare to watch him portray a character with only one voice.
Edited by Phat, : spelling "A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes." ~Mark Twain " *** “…far from science having buried God, not only do the results of science point towards his existence, but the scientific enterprise itself is validated by his existence.”- Dr.John Lennox “A God without wrath brought men without sin into a Kingdom without judgment through the ministrations of a Christ without a Cross.” “The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of a doubt, what is laid before him.” — Leo Tolstoy, The Kingdom of God is Within You

quote Daniel is an example. There’s some amazingly accurate stuff - but it goes off the rails later. Christians generally try to reinterpret it anyway to fit their beliefs, so it gets complicated when dealing with Fundamentalists who have no respect for actual scholarship.

Seth MacFarlane, eh? It's rare to watch him portray a character with only one voice. Well, he is a voice actor after all, along with wearing several other hats. Though in his live performances that I've seen and can think of (eg, The Orville, A Million Ways to Die in the West), he has done so with only one voice as far as I could tell. Have you been watching The Orville? Arguably, it was the best Star Trek for quite a while -- I'm positive that they use the background music from Star Trek TNG. I feel that this last season, the third, has been more serious in tone with less of the Family Guy type humor of the previous seasons. Though I noticed in a scene of a Krill bridge over the viewscreen were words in the Krill language, but it looked like "OOD DOO" (the first was the mirror image of the second). I assume that it was a play on when Mercer and Gordon learn about the Krill god, Avis, and Gordon joked "He's Number Two so he tries harder" (from the car rental commercials). "Number Two", "DOO DOO". BTW, the Krill are extremely religious, which is what makes them so extremely and violently xenophobic, wanting to kill all other space-faring species, especially humans. Now myself in a discussion is another case, especially as I slip into the character of the type of person whose position I'm presenting. When I retired, one co-worker remarked that she was going to miss all the voices. Speaking of voice actors, Nancy Cartwright does the voices for seven of the characters on The Simpsons, most notably Bart Simpson ("He's an underachiever and proud of it."). Here is one in which she does all seven voices in less than 40 seconds:
And in another video, the first one of these that I saw, she meets a fan in the wild. At first he's thinking, "Hey, that's a pretty good impression", but then the look on his face as he starts to realize that he really is talking with Bart Simpson. I'm posting the URL because this video is yet another one that refused to embed: Thirteen-year-old Boy meets Bart Simpson Not sure what that's about. This is a YouTube search page of various of her videos: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=nancy+cartwr...

Coffee, the Bible tells us when the end of this present
age will come. Matthew 24:14 ..."and this gospel (good news) of theKingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." The vast majority of Christian denominations say thatthe gospel is being preached unto all the world right now, but this is not true. What is being taught is a gospel about Jesus, about Hislife. Only a small fraction actually teaches the gospel that Jesus Himself taught from the very beginning of His ministry. Mark 1:14 ..."Jesus came into Galilee preaching theGospel (good news) of the Kingdom of God. The coming Kingdom of God was the great news thatChrist gave to us. A Kingdom requires a ruler; subjects; territory; and laws. Daniel 2:14 "and in the days of these kings (10 nationsruled over by the beast and false prophet) shall the God of heaven set up a Kingdom that shall never be destroyed, and the Kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever." This is a future event. The Kingdom has not yet beenestablished, nor has the good news of its coming been preached unto the entire world. The two witnesses in Revelation 11 will for three andone half years proclaim the good news of the coming Kingdom to the entire world for a witness. The world will not believe the two witnesses. They willinstead place their faith firmly in the human leader (the beast) and false prophet (spiritual leader). There are other signs that must be fulfilled before thetwo witnesses appear on the world scene, but this is the final sign.

Read on a little further in the chapter:
the Bible tells us when the end of this presentage will come. Matthew 24:14 ..."and this gospel (good news) of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." quote:"This generation" is the people who were standing in front of Jesus at the time, the people who were alive in c. 30 CE. Jesus was that predicting "these things" would happen within a few decades - i.e. in the 1st century CE. "Oh no, They've gone and named my home St. Petersburg. What's going on? Where are all the friends I had? It's all wrong, I'm feeling lost like I just don't belong. Give me back, give me back my Leningrad." -- Leningrad Cowboys

Coffee, the Bible tells us when the end of this present
age will come. Yes. It is clear that it would come within the lifetimes of the apostles. There seem only two possibilities. Either it already came and nobody noticed; or they were wrong and perhaps there will never be an end times.Fundamentalism - the anti-American, anti-Christian branch of American Christianity

quote: Of course he was wrong. Daniel 8 tells us that the End Times will be in the latter days of the Diadochi kingdoms. Battle of Actium, 31 BC and that’s IT. The Bible says so.

There are certainly more than two predictions. The predictions in the Old Testament are generally vague as to when. The New Testament generally indicates the near future.

Sorry to take so long to reply, Ringo.
It is extremely important to also add verse 33 whenwe interpret exactly who "this generation" is. 33: "So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the door." 34: "Truly I say unto you, this generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled." Read the entire chapter. It is an end-time prophecy. At the time when this prophecy takes place technologicaladvances will be such that we could kill everyone on the face of the earth. Read verse 22. It is at the end of this "present age," when Jesus willreplace Satan as ruler of the earth. Jesus will at that time set up His Kingdom. However, when the great tribulation (which is Satan'swrath) and associated events begin some alive at its beginning will still be alive at its end. End time events would not carry on indefinitely. That generation would see see the arrival of thespecific three and one half period that marks the end of this present evil age. Notice Revelation 11. The two witnesses lie dead inthe street for three and a half days. Yet the entire world sees them. The deceived population will send each other presents to commemorate their deaths. Only after the invent of satellite and media could theworld know that they were even dead. The central theme of the entire Bible is that of thecoming Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God is the means by which God begins to save humanity.

There's no need to interpret who "this generation" is. It's stated clearly. It is extremely important to also add verse 33 whenwe interpret exactly who "this generation" is. And your verse 33 confirms it. "Ye" refers to the people that Jesus was talking to at that very moment, not somebody who would be born thousands of years in the future.

I did. I pointed ot the part that YOU ignored.
Read the entire chapter. candle2 writes:
Yes, it's a FAILED prophecy.
It is an end-time prophecy. candle2 writes:
Where does it say anything about technological advances?

But they didn't.

No. We're talking about Matthew 24. You can't use a different book to try to "fix" a failed prophecy in Matthew.
Notice Revelation 11. candle2 writes:

quote: He gets that one wrong, too.
9 For three and a half days members of the peoples and tribes and languages and nations will gaze at their dead bodies and refuse to let them be placed in a tomb
It just says that people of different nations will look at the bodies. So all you need is a cosmopolitan city with a lot of foreigners.

Ringo, the point I made about military technology is
that at the time Jesus gave this speech (which includes The entirety of chapters 23 through 25) is that 2000 years ago man's ability to annihilate itself was Impossible. Only during the 20th Century did man develop themilitary weapons that would enable mankind to completely annihilate itself. Matthew 24:22 "And except those days should beShortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect' sake those days shall be shortened. The crowd at that time didn't witness totaldestruction. Only this present generation can see all that is mentioned in chapter 24. I guess my reference to Revelation 11 was alsobeyond you understanding. I'm not trying to be sarcastic here; it's just thatsometimes it is best to be direct. Only the generation that sees all these things, including the great tribulation mentioned in verse 22, can qualify as being among those in "this generation."

Paulk, the two witnesses perform miracles that affect
the whole world. Read all of this chapter. We are at that time in the days. The Apostle John could both read and write. If he hadmeant that only the inhabitants of Jerusalem were able to see the dead bodies he could have simply stated this. But, this not what he said. However, if had wished to saythat inhabitants from all nations and tongues viewed the bodies, he succeeded. The closest large city to me is Nashville. If somethinghappened there and a large part of city's population saw it which would they say: A large part of Nashville's population witnessed... Or, People from all nations; tribes; ethnic groups; and, languages witnessed... The second way even sounds stupid, doesn't it?

quote: I have read it. Which is more than you have done.
quote: Is Nashville famous for being visited by many foreigners? Ancient Rome was. Or modern London. It would not surprise me if something similar were said about the Queen’s funeral. Indeed, it is the sort of thing that might well be said about the Olympic Games, speaking only of the visitors, not the people watching on TV. The deceits by which you deny the Bible are hollow and empty.
