Death makes every atheist know that, not only were their arguments wrong, they're not atheists anymore.

I don't recall making that claim. When you say “God does not exist” is laughable that means you have some proof (your kind of proof that the rest of us might call evidence) to sustain that view. If you agreed with the statement you would have no objection, but you have reason ("proof" in your world) to challenge it. So this means you have proof your version of god really actually exists, right? So show me.Stop Tzar Vladimir the Condemned!

Death makes every atheist know that, not only were their arguments wrong, they're not atheists anymore. If that should happen then that will be the reality of the universe and I will be bobbing like a buoy on the lake of fire for all eternity. But all the evidence of the universe say yours is an un-evidenced, illogical, unsupportable fiction. Tooth Fairy class. No need for concern. I know you feel in your heart there has got to be a god real bad. But that may be a gastronomic issue with all those meat-crackers. Ease up there and see if your reality improves.Stop Tzar Vladimir the Condemned!

No, it doesn't mean that. No one can possibly prove that God doesn't exist, therefore to argue that "I know God does not exist" is a nonsense - this is true even if I can't prove that God does exist. When you say “God does not exist” is laughable that means you have some proof (your kind of proof that the rest of us might call evidence) to sustain that view. I understand that arguments based on simple logic are not your forte. For example, on another thread, you claim to "know" that ToE describes the process that produced the fossil record ... despite the fact that no one can possibly prove your claim correct. So your claim is as ridiculously illogical as Stile's claim that he knows God does not exist.
your kind of proof that the rest of us might call evidence
A curious comment. I suspect you're arguing that "evidence" is the same as "proof" ... in which case, wow. (I hope you don't find yourself expressing such thoughts on a philosophy site ... you would get ripped to pieces.)

(I hope you don't find yourself expressing such thoughts on a philosophy site ... you would get ripped to pieces.) And rightfully so. I'm using the catholic definitions you keep insisting on and, frankly this is way stupid. So, if you can't prove your god, which I will modify as you have no evidence for your god, then how is no evidence different from doesn't exist? Unlike Sagan's aliens, this absence of evidence, given the supposed actions of your gods, does equal evidence of absence. Just like the tooth fairy, no evidence = no fairy. No evidence = no god.Stop Tzar Vladimir the Condemned!

What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence. -Christopher Hitchens Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts "God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness. If your viewpoint has merits and facts to back it up why would you have to lie?

Basically, the argument here is that absence of evidence equals evidence of absence Stile's argument is a bit more sophisticated than that, but not surprised that you were unable to grasp it.What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence. -Christopher Hitchens Facts don't lie or have an agenda. It's axiomatic that any argument that ends with "I know that God does not exist" is a stupid argument. God is descibed as omnipotent, omniscient and omnibenevolent. It can be argued that these three attributes are mutually incompatible. I'm sure I don't need to go over the details here, it's been done to death already. Anyway, that's one way we can know that God does not exist, if God is indeed supposed to have these three attributes simultaneously. Show me how this is a stupid argument, but with a proper counterargument instead of with a self-proclaimed yet unwarranted axiom."Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge: it is those who know little, not those who know much, who so positively assert that this or that problem will never be solved by science." - Charles Darwin.

I have argued against the OP in this thread. Go ahead and read my posts. There are only 570 of them and most of them are mercifully short. You know that God does not exist? Frankly (and I seldom admit this), I think i lost the argument. It was always a stretch. I think Style's claim that he knows God does not exist is much stronger than anybody else's claim that they know God does exist. It was a worthwhile exercise. That isn't "going far" at all. It's practically a given. You demonstrate that every time you throw the Jesus of the Bible away and replace it with your own "communed" version.
Ringo even goes so far as to argue that the entire concept of God is relative to the individual. Phat writes:
In the individual version that you have made up.
I disagree because the relationship is a two-way street... Phat writes:
But so many non-Judeo-Christians say the same thing about their individual gods. ... the still small voice whom I pray to and talk with, no non-Judeo Christian candidate is ever heard from. And let's drop the Judeo part. Don't forget that the Jews also deny your version.
Phat writes:
You really can't. You might as well post a page from the phone book and call that an argument. I can explain more fully through audio conversation rather than this tedious chore of written argument."Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt." -- motto of the Special Olympians

Again, it isn't about proof. This thread is about weight of evidence. Stile's argument is that zero evidence is enough to decide he "knows". My attempted argument was that he doesn't "know" until he's finished looking. No one can possibly prove that God doesn't exist.... ABE:

Nobody is going to argue that. Science doesn't deal in proof. Evidence is infinitely more valuable than "proof".
