(Thought through how to approach this one, and decided to go for a smile in the end).
Stay positive - but don't stay positive ! (Get well soon mate).Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

With the triple shot you will be OK. But just to be sure I would recommend chicken soup washed down by a of couple pints daily until symptoms abate. Best to you, Sir.

Meme writes: When you think you have COVID because everything you eat has no flavor but then you remember you live in England. Isn't that more indicative of Norwegian cuisine? I'm remembering particularly a new Mexican restaurant that opened in 1982 next to the Columbia Mall in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Now mind you that a lot of Norwegian immigrants had settled there. I had a wet burrito that was completely covered by a quarter-inch layer of green chili. Absolutely no flavor, completely bland! Similarly, for many years the town only had one Mexican restaurant. Rumor had it that early on they couldn't get any tortillas, so they would use lefse instead (Norwegian potato flatbread). -- it's no longer there, but it looks like they've moved so I'll not give the name.

Brits have an unfair reputation for food - it originated after the second world war when we were still rationing food and and stuck.
These days you'll find the greatest selection of cuisines in the world here and more cookery shows than you've had hot dinners. We found some great food in the US (mostly Italian) but we had to try very hard to find it. It's burgers and junk all the way down. And don't get me started on Denny's...Je suis Charlie. Speaking of Italian food, Stanley Tucci has a show, Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy, in which he visits different regions of Italy and samples the food of those regions.
Last night the show covered the Italian region of London. After WWI, a lot of Italians emigrated to England -- almost an entire village in Emilia-Romagna ended up in southern Wales. London's Little Italy was closed down during WWII with all military age Italian men being interned (like we did with our Japanese-Americans except we locked up entire families), but it has come back strong. England has certainly come a long way since the BBC's Spaghetti Tree Hoax of 01 April 1957. It makes one wonder how Italian food in London differs from Italian food in the US. Most Italian food in the US is modifications of what Italian dishes because a lot of basic ingredients could not be found; eg, no eggplant but meat was much more plentiful and cheaper so eggplant parmesan became chicken/veal parm. And spaghetti and meatballs? Mixing il primo con il secondo? What changes were needed in London? Or in Argentina? I forget where that is in Latin America, but one treat is ñoqui, which is Italian gnocchi. And FWIW, the most favorite German dish is supposed to be spaghetti alla Bolognese (though in Italy spaghetti is too narrow for such a meaty sauce).

A few strategic mistakes by the treasonous army sealed their doom. The other logistical mistake may have been worse.

After many meals in London (particularly Soho), Salisbury and the British Pavilion at Epcot Center in Orlando, there did seem to be something to the British cuisine reputation. My favorite was Shepard's Pie. Also excellent were Haggis and Irish bangers, but the first is Scottish and the second is, of course, Irish. There did seem to be a solid basis for their reputation for boiling vegetables down to a purée.

Sorry it was difficult finding good food in the US. I would have thought that in New York, Washington DC, Gettysburg and Niagara you would have easily found any cuisine you wanted, from mainstream American fair to Chinese (American version) to Thai to Indian to Italian (which you found) to Mediterranean style to Mexican to Greek to Vietnamese to sub shops to pizza parlors to bar/pub fare. And I see you discovered Denny's, both an American shame and treasure. Breakfast there is pure gold, any other time kind of hit or miss. The over 70 crowd loves it and arrives around 4:30. How are you feeling? --Percy

quote I agree, there's a restaurant of every nationality every other shopfront everywhere in the US. But so many of them were rubbish. Niagara was stand out awful. No doubt the locals know the good ones but we didn't find one - it's predominantly tourist fast food. I guess it's the same everywhere, both New York and London have tens of thousands of restaurants of all types but there are only a small percentage that are actually any good. You just have to know. btw in New York we found our best meal of the trip it was called Sicily from memory - lovely authentic Italian.

If you ever get over the pond again ask for restaurant references. I am in the frozen upper Midwest, but I am from out east and have family and friends all over that can give you some good ideas. I will not get references from the idiots I am related to. I am sure others here can direct you also.
