Falsifying death certificates?
I had a brief conversation yesterday with a neighbor who just replaced a fence between our properties and he said that he and the whole crew of friends and relatives that helped him on the project over the last couple weeks got Covid. Some were vaccinated and some not, all survived without serious illness. Then he said that his son works in a hospital and that he said that if someone is admitted to the hospital from a car crash, they are tested for Covid and if positive and they later die from their injuries the cause of death is listed as Covid. I told him I didn't believe that was true and asked if this was a hospital policy to falsify the death certificates and why would they do that. Of course there was no answer and he changed the subject, but implied this was some sort of larger nationwide conspiracy. How would some secret conspiratorial group benefit from false death causes and how could they get agencies and organizations nationwide to be part of such a conspiracy? We seldom talk and I barely know this neighbor, but after having time to think about it I sure hope I get a chance to ask more questions.

I think that's a right wing talking point. Your neighbor probably listens to FOX and may even be tuned in to Qanon. That's exactly the vibe I got listening to him. Early in the pandemic in 2020, there was a right wing talking point along the line that the cause of death of anyone with the so-called co-morbidities who had Covid, even if they had to be intubated in the hospital, really died from the co-morbidities. This was was an illogical and irrational attempt by the right wing media and politicians to deny that Covid really existed or was dangerous. This bullshit propaganda succeeded in mindwiping 70+ million Americans.

And don't you just hate it when, like for decades with those urban legends, the teller claims to be reporting something that a close relative or close friend had actually seen. Yep! I'm thinking of a bunch of things I wish I had said or asked. Like was your relative the one filing fraudulent death certificates? Strange times, but they feel familiar.

Everyone with a cellphone is carrying a high quality video camera and all the media networks are continuously searching data sources and watching each other, looking for hints of a story.
