LOL

@jar: I feel the hate of the enemy in you my brother, but I also feel the seed of faith that will not be extinguished as well. I noticed you immediately fell back upon your abandoned Christian roots, with pride in length of service no less! ...before the enemy's lies and hate filled your reply. I love you brother, and I pray that you will one day feel the love and peace of Jesus in your life. I want to see you up there in heaven with me and everyone else one day. God bless you sir.
Too funny child but be assured that IF there is a heaven you and almost all other Christians will not be there while heaven will be filled with atheists and satanists and Buddhists and Taoists and agnostics and Hindus and Muslims.
Salvation is the great con sold to all the carny folk and denigration of all that Jesus taught.

Pray to something that exists?
Remember Phat, there is evidence that the Universe and sky and butterflies and dragon flies exist.

Doesn't work that way. I cannot conceive of a god. If there were such an entity it would be beyond all comprehension, so not worth even bothering about.
If there is a GOD, and I believe there is one, that entity would have to be complete.
And that is one thing Phat and a vast majority of believers in EVERY religion simply fear and cannot accept.

Think Phat.
Phat writes:
There is really no way to have a direct interview, although I would assert that a consensus regarding God's nature can be found among believers.
Phat, Phat Phat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Think!
Look at the evidence.
If what you posted were true then there would be some evidence to support it, yet the reality is that there are literally dozens or hundreds of different major religions where each one has a different concept of what their god(s)'s nature(s) is. There is not even some universal "Christian" god. There is not even a universal description of God's nature to be found in the Bible stories.

Re: Think Phat.
But the vast majority of Christians are much like you Phat, willfully ignorant of what is actually written in the Bible stories and willfully ignorant of the actual history of Christianity and in total denial of reality in general.
And remember, Christianity might still be the largest current religion but it is very far from the majority religion.
You simply deny the facts and evidence which is fine as long as your goal is to remain ignorant.

Re: Justification: Impeccable Reasoning
Holy Water is not a Roman Catholic exclusive. There are protestant denominations that also use consecrated water in specific settings.
A good example is the Rite of Baptism from the Book of Common Prayer.
Thanksgiving over the Water
The Celebrant blesses the water, first saying
The Lord be with you.
People And also with you.
Celebrant Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
People It is right to give him thanks and praise.
Celebrant
We thank you, Almighty God, for the gift of water.
Over it the Holy Spirit moved in the beginning of creation.
Through it you led the children of Israel out of their bondage
in Egypt into the land of promise. In it your Son Jesus
received the baptism of John and was anointed by the Holy
Spirit as the Messiah, the Christ, to lead us, through his death
and resurrection, from the bondage of sin into everlasting life.
We thank you, Father, for the water of Baptism. In it we are
buried with Christ in his death. By it we share in his
resurrection. Through it we are reborn by the Holy Spirit.
Therefore in joyful obedience to your Son, we bring into his
fellowship those who come to him in faith, baptizing them in
the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
At the following words, the Celebrant touches the water
Now sanctify this water, we pray you, by the power of your
Holy Spirit, that those who here are cleansed from sin and
born again may continue for ever in the risen life of Jesus
Christ our Savior.
To him, to you, and to the Holy Spirit, be all honor and
glory, now and for ever. Amen.

Ah, but Cathedral is also not a Roman Catholic exclusive.
The National Cathedral in DC is Episcopalian (and one of the grotesques is Darth Vader).

Re: Justification: Impeccable Reasoning
Actually the next passage from the Book of Common Prayer Rite of Baptism covers the oil for anointing.
Consecration of the Chrism
The Bishop may then consecrate oil of Chrism, placing a hand on the
vessel of oil, and saying
Eternal Father, whose blessed Son was anointed by the
Holy Spirit to be the Savior and servant of all, we pray you to
consecrate this oil, that those who are sealed with it may
share in the royal priesthood of Jesus Christ; who lives and
reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, for ever and ever. Amen.

why someone might be anti-theist
Phat writes:
That explains atheism but what on earth explains antitheism??
That is easy. ALL of the evidence that is the historic behavior of so called theists should be enough to justify anti-theism. And unfortunately no religion, no movement, no government has been more effective at murder, rape and genocide than Christianity.

Jesus was a communist and the Communist death tolls pale to insignificance when compared to Christian Genocide.

Re: why someone might be anti-theist
Far too big to count. But ask any Native American or Druid or any other religious body.
Christianity has not just been the most efficient genocidal organization it has also been the longest lasting and still the biggest current genocidal threat.
AbE:
The problem is that the vast majority of Christians are too dishonest to actually admit just how evil Christianity has been and is still today.

Re: why someone might be anti-theist
Bullshit.
It was genocide and the Native American religion and way of life, even their hair style, languages, culture and dress were forbidden.
It was in every way another genocide just as was true with every new culture encountered.
And Christianity is the most successful practitioner of human sacrifice ever.

Re: why someone might be anti-theist
Christianity, Judaism and Islam are the three largest of the Abrahamic religions.
They all worship the same God and all claim the others do not worship the same god.
They all use pretty much the same basic texts and practice pretty much the same cultures while each claiming that the other two do not.
Judaism though is the only one of the three that does not emphasis proselytizing and is the only one of the three that was not spread by the STATE and sword.
