The Biden Presidency

In the past month a great many crimes have been committed where I live, violations of laws at the state, county, and local level. During that month my state, county, and city have continued Covid19 testing programs, instituted Covid19 vaccination programs, patrolled the streets and highways for traffic law violators, started, continued and completed many roadway and building repair and construction projects, and even managed to fill some pot holes AND investigated, charged, and prosecuted many of those crimes committed in these jurisdictions. It is the responsibility of government and those in government to conduct the business of government. There is no MOBVEON/PROSECUTE/DONTPROSECUTE dart board!As an historical note, the Cray 80, the first super computer, was built entirely of AND gate logic. It is a very powerful tool.

I buy a $30,000 car on Friday and give the dealership a $30,000 check. Problem is that I only have $100 in my checking account. But I know it will take several days for the check to clear my bank. So I run around and borrow as much money as I can from every friend and source I can find and deposit it in the bank in time to clear the check. This is how our federal government works.An interesting aspect of this process is that I write IOU’s for the money I borrow and these IOU’s state: Pay to the bearer on (some date) the following amount. The person who lent me the money could possibly use this IOU in exchange for goods or services (if the goods/service provider is wiling). I. e., I have printed MONEY! The IOU’s the government prints (which they call BONDs) are our country’s second form of money, because it is legal tender, whose total amount is not controlled.

The current pandemic relief proposals between the Democrats and the Republicans make the difference between the two parties quite clear:The Republicans don’t want to needlessly waste a single dollar,The Democrats don’t want to needlessly waste a single life.To the Republicans, an American life is not worth a dollar.

It’s starting to sound like the Republicans/conservatives in this country want to institute a ‘useless eaters’ program (pogrom?).

Can this logic be used to justify a Universal Basic Income (UBI) program, or does it only apply to dire situations?
