All that your science is is just what the snake said: You shall be as gods.
You likely would even argue that today's humans are wiser than Jesus ever could have been since we now have Google and 2000 years of additional acquired wisdom. You just don't get it. ![]() "A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes." ~Mark Twain " *** far from science having buried God, not only do the results of science point towards his existence, but the scientific enterprise itself is validated by his existence.- Dr.John Lennox The whole war between the atheist and the theist comes down to this: the atheist believes a 'what' created the universe; the theist believes a 'who' created the universe.- Criss Jami, Killosophy

So you dont believe that Jesus lives today.
And if you did, you would realize that not only His wisdom was timeless, but that His knowledge is as up to date as the daily news. Its ok. You guys say i dont get it and I say that *you* don't get it. Its why we frequent a debate forum and rarely agree. I would research my replies and comment more, but I am starting a new business and will tell everyone about it once it is off the ground and running. I can't spend every moment of my l;ife attempting to defend a God who really needs no defense from me.

This is basically word salad. To clear your point up, explain precisely what these philosophies are that we are dealing with.
I can list a few.

ALL EVIDENCE must be based only on what can be tested When one has repeatedly seen unexplained events and spec ific phenomena, fantasy becomes reality for that person unless they deny what they have repeatedly seen. Im fully aware that these unexplained events can be "tested". My point to you is that not everything can be tested. If it could, we might have a different world then what we now have....not because anyuthing would have changed, but because the people would be aware. I maintain that many of you are not aware whereas you maintain that I am either ignorant (willfully, perhaps) deluded (brainwashed, preferring fantasy over "reality") or lying.
The first two points are simply silly Phat; pitiful and embarrassing. You should be ashamed to even think for a moment that they have any relevance whatsoever. Stop trying to tell me what I *should* think. You always hate it when I misrepresent you, but you and your inner demon tend to attempt to frame issues and topics and put thoughts into your opponents heads as to what they *should* think. I bind that demon in the name of Jesus and I pray that the Holy Spirit of creativity and reality fill our conversation! ![]() Edited by Phat, : jabberwockian discourse"A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes." ~Mark Twain " *** far from science having buried God, not only do the results of science point towards his existence, but the scientific enterprise itself is validated by his existence.- Dr.John Lennox The whole war between the atheist and the theist comes down to this: the atheist believes a 'what' created the universe; the theist believes a 'who' created the universe.- Criss Jami, Killosophy

Let me lay out a fact for you Creedal Christians. The Nicene Creed may well have been invented by humans, but the God mentioned predated human wisdom. And no, I have no objective evidence. If you claim to be a believer, believe instead of believing in your own wisdom and mind. You know nothing until you commune with a Spirit far superior to yours.

You are not a believer. No amount of certificates from the Episcopal Church or St.Johns will ever prove otherwise. And you are willfully ignorant concerning your belief. Your own mind creates the definition of belief that you peddle on this planet. May your false teachings never be heard in any major media outlet in the US. You work for the devil whom you dont believe in and you slander the GOD you only pay lip service to. [qs]Logic, Reason, and Reality depend on the observer as well as objective evidence.
Perhaps if you go take out the neighbors trash or go slang spare change with ringo you may someday redeem yourself, but your false teachings are dangerous. You have been stationed here at EvC by Satan himself to keep these minds here in the dark. Its not just sad...its tragic. jar writes: Based only on your definition of what a Christian is. That I am a member of the Episcopal Church though is evidence that I am a Christian. It would be as if I acquired a mail order diploma and proclaimed myself a M.A. or a PhD based on the fact that I had a diploma. You claim to have read the Bible yet you present a warped teaching as to what it means. I don't care what the text literally says. There is a common agreement among (oh I'd guess) 75% of believers...not scholarly critical thinkers) that God exists apart from human definition and does not have a need to lie. Yet you peddle this belief, likely to prop up your own ego and "it's" insistence that jar can read and think for himself. Thus you warp and twist popular teachings so that nobody can get saved or trust that the Spirit of God is living and active. Edited by Phat, : Final Post for at least a month at EvC. An excerpt from the book:
Science Mike writes:
My family comes from the largest denomination of the conservative Evangelical movement: the Southern Baptist Convention. Southern Baptists believe that people become reconciled to God when they believe that Jesus is the Son of God, who died for the sins of all of humankind, and when they state that belief in a prayer. That prayer is called the Sinner’s Prayer, a name that says a lot about what it’s like to grow up in that wing of the church. Southern Baptists believe that all people are born sinners. Humans are in love with pleasure, power, and prestige, and our natural inclination is to follow our sinful natures into all sorts of trouble. This isn’t too far-fetched an idea. I carry 40 pounds of evidence of this tendency around my midsection. But most Southern Baptists take it further, believing that people are completely hopeless without God, and that anyone who isn’t saved through faith in Jesus goes to hellan actual, physical place of eternal, fiery torment and suffering. This concept can do a number on the imagination of a seven-year-old kid, which was the age my friends and I were when we heard it. Many children express interest in salvation right around the time they’re old enough to grasp this concept of eternal torment. Some of my friends remember having nightmares in which their unsaved friends roasted in fiery pits while they looked down from heaven’s paradise. I’m thankful to report that this wasn’t my experience.ringo from long ago writes:
All I want is to be left alone. Just don't fry me. And I don't want to live for ever and ever with somebody who fried my friends.ScienceMike writes: (He prayed the prayer I was fortunate to grow up in a congregation that focused on the hope of salvationa message that was more carrot than stick. People at my family’s church talked about having Jesus in your heart and the Holy Spirit in your life. God was someone who helped you make the right decisions, understand the Bible, and find peace no matter what was happening around you. That sounded wonderful to my small ears. One night after coming home from church, I interrogated my parents about salvation. Even as a kid, I was never the kind of person who accepts information without scrutiny, and I wanted to see if I could find or poke any holes in this salvation concept. and I went to get ready for bed. I usually fall asleep quickly, but I couldn’t that night. I felt a sense of urgency, an energy pulsing through my bones. I knew I needed to ask Jesus into my heart, so I grabbed my mom and told her it was timethat I was ready to know Him. Mom asked a few questions and then![]() SciFiMike writes: When I felt lonely hiding in the woods to escape bullies, I would talk to Jesus. I talked to him about feeling fat, slow, and stupid. Sometimes I would ask him why, if he truly loved me, he had made me the way he did. Other times, I asked Jesus to make me able to hit a home run or run a mile without stopping, and I would imagine the admiration and accolades that would come from the other kids when such a miracle happened. I didn’t think it was too much to ask. Jesus was God, after all, and God had parted a sea for His people. All I was asking for was one lousy home run. I never got that home run, but at least Jesus was a good listener. He never made fun of me, either. ringo writes: Sounds like simple enough logic. But is it true? Lets say ringo is in the woods near Saskatchewan. He is with some of his spare change buddies and they are having a few beers and talking of old glory days when they were sixties hippies. Suddenly a shiny UFO briefly appears and darts quickly off towards Vancouver. (Yes this is but a story...but go with it) Without evidence there can not be truth. They count the empty beer cans and realize that they each only had two. There is no evidence anywhere in the woods apart from empty beercans, but all 4 of them would agree that they appeared to collectively see something unexplained. Based only on what evidence they have, can they deny (collectively) what they saw? ringo writes: There is nothing wrong with being honest. My point is that they all saw the same event. And if they are honest, they will report the samee phenomenon in slightly different ways, much as the Gospels did. In fact, lets run with this analogy. They SHOULD deny what they saw. For one thing, no two of them will have "seen" the exact same thing. They may actually try to get their story straight but they are just as likely to cling to their individual stories. There is One Spirit, not "many". To say there are many is to peddle a lie. The snake started this lie by saying ye shall be as gods. There are lots of unexplained things seen. But no one has ever seen "supernatural". Acknowledge that you've seen some weird shit; that's wonderful. Stop pretending though that you have even a clue about the causes beyond those that can be tested. No wonder you never got saved. You refused to believe what you could not test. Im not saying you are wrong nor right...im simply observing. Yet you accuse me of not thinking. Because I don't test I don't think? dwise1 writes: Interesting post, David. I always like how you go into so much detail and thoroughly explain your perspective! Therefore, whenever a theist starts talking about "having been an atheist", our first order of business is to find out just what the hell he's talking about. And until we are able to get that answer, the most probable outcome will be that the theist making that claim just has no clue what he's talking about. Kind of like if Trump or his WH makes any kind of statement, the probability that that statement is false is far greater than that it might be true.![]() So let me get this straight. I understand that many "believers" find it incredulous how one of our own could later become an atheist. Now I'm hearing from an actual atheist who finds it incredulous that one of his own could later become a believer! Is this about right? jar writes: Learn to think intuitively, jar. Throw away your critical thinking evidence based limitations that prevent you from knowing God. Plural means more than one member of the specific set. It really is that simple. The writers of much of the Bible were never monotheistsThe set which is referred...the US...is the heavenly hosts. This set includes both Gods angels and the fallen angels. How would one go about explaining (un)explainable events? I have seen enough subjective evidence to believe that God as I understand Him is real and so are demons, but I have no way of presenting this as an objective argument.

jar writes: I disagree. There is only One God. the other "gods" are not Deities...they are created by the One God. You are correct that there is no objective method thus far to prove this, but it is my understanding that people do not believe based on objectivity anyway. If God had wanted it that way then everyone would believe just as most people now believe (and can prove) that the world is round. We still have flat earth denialists, but they are few and far between. You will likely ask me how I know this to be true and accuse me of making up my God. You have said before that you would laugh at the God of Biblical Christians...many whom describe the same God. You must have NEVER trusted them. You were taught to think and be skeptical at a young age. I could say...as Jesus once did...that flesh and blood(and objective evidence) has not revealed this to me, but at best it would get a laugh. Since ALL of the objective evidence does show that either there are literally millions of different gods or there is no way to decide if any one or more of them actually exists. You tell me to learn to think, but if thinking turned me as skeptical as you, I would prefer to do without it. There are many people who need to know what I teach and far fewer who would benefit from what you teach. I still like you though. ![]() Edited by Phat, : i gotta get out of here!"A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes." ~Mark Twain " *** far from science having buried God, not only do the results of science point towards his existence, but the scientific enterprise itself is validated by his existence.- Dr.John Lennox The whole war between the atheist and the theist comes down to this: the atheist believes a 'what' created the universe; the theist believes a 'who' created the universe.- Criss Jami, Killo The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of a doubt, what is laid before him.
