No but travel to China would occur more often with them.
But not that often. Pelosi went there in late February. Trump was still saying that he wasn’t worried by the virus in early March. And, I’ll note that it’s New York where the problem started getting really bad, not San Francisco.

Trump does a very good job of making himself into the bad guy.
But Trump’s hoax speech was 28th February. After Pelosi’s Chinatown visit. Trump was saying that figures of 35,000 to 40,000 deaths in the US were overblown. There were 1800 deaths recorded yesterday, and the total is already at 13,000.

Re: His fault
The Left twists the narrative to put Trump at fault and you buy it.
who hired these advisers that are constantly wrong? who continues to employ them? trump is responsible for the actions of his subordinates, that's what leadership entails. having had everything handed to him trump of course has no concept of leadership, just of being the boss.

It's not enough to bash in heads, you've got to bash in minds

Re: John Oliver on OAN misinformation idiocy
Yeah I know that's your story and you're stickin to it but I doubt your story.
Reality is what it is. What do you expect me to stick to instead, batshit craziness? Like you do?
And I often skip posts that accuse me of things these days like not knowing what reality is.
And yet, over and over again for years with sickening regularity, you demonstrate that you in fact do not know what reality is. You have also demonstrated a profound ignorance of how anything works along with an equally profound disdain for ever learning anything. Furthermore, you repeatedly demonstrate a deep hatred for facts.
The last two actually make sense. You live in a fantasy world in order to reject and avoid reality. If you were to learn how things actually work in the real world and if you were to look at the facts, then that would weaken your fantasy. Therefore, you must avoid facts at all cost and cling to your blessed ignorance in order to fend off reality.
And when I hear the TRUE story of how it all went down I'm sure I'll let you know.
Unless you stop suckling on the teat of the real fake news (ie, the purveyors of Trumpian lies), you will never have a chance to ever hear the true story. Oh, we will try to convey the truth to you, but even you know that you will never allow yourself to listen.
But the real true story will come out of the Trump Crimes Commission that must follow. I hope you live to see that.

chinavirus idiocy
... When did Pelosi make a big production out of going to Chinatown in San Francisco to prove she's not a racist or whatever her point was? Risky thing to do if the Chinese fly back and forth from China but I guess she survived.
Didn't hear about that, but it is logical to show that the coronavirus was no greater threat there than elsewhere (Washington state?), and that the label "chinavirus" was misleading, leading to racist violence against chinese-americans.
You do know how dog-whistles work, yes? They operate at a frequency that normal people can't hear; in politics they are code words or wording that normal people don't notice, but a target audience understands.
Trump is a master whistler.

And, I’ll note that it’s New York where the problem started getting really bad, not San Francisco.
Even though the earliest reported cases were in Washington State, California, and New York, Washington and California took action much earlier than New York. For that matter, I recall that San Francisco ordered a lock-down very early on. I heard of Seattle implementing measures around the same time, and the rest of California following suit.
As a result, California has been able to slow the spread which should flatten out the curve and keep the case load from overwhelming our hospitals, which is what we're seeing play out in New York City. My understanding is that Seattle has had similar success. It's not over yet and it will get worse, but hopefully not much worse.

Re: His fault
He hasn't been listening to his advisers that have a clue.
The two month delay in serious reaction is 100% Trump. But you can't address that because there's no way of wiggling out of it. We've posted his statements, his damning words. We've posted articles that prove he wasn't and isn't listening to any experts or taking any responsibility for anything at all.
It's a nationwide catastrophe. It's the Federal government's role to lead and support. There's no leadership. The only support is for companies price-gouging critical equipment and supplies. Don't forget that Trump destroyed the group that should have prepared for and managed the crisis. Don't forget that he canceled the maintenance contract for the stockpiled ventilators, and many of the ventilators shipped out don't work.

NYT reports 40,000 people have flown directly from China to the US since the "ban".

Does that mean that we should be seeing more anti-Mexican violence around Cinco de Mayo? Because of Corona beer?

And I bet that a lot of them are not ethnic Chinese. With China being such a major manufacturing centre there is quite a bit of business travel.

Flattening the Curve, State by State
Even though the earliest reported cases were in Washington State, California, and New York, Washington and California took action much earlier than New York. For that matter, I recall that San Francisco ordered a lock-down very early on. I heard of Seattle implementing measures around the same time, and the rest of California following suit.
So these actions will/should make the national curve look a little better. Actions before Trump did anything. He will take credit for it (there are two types of people, those that do things and those that take credit).
The national picture will be lumpy though, as each hot-spot goes through their peaks at different times, Detroit and Chicago for instance -- expect it to rocket up as NOLA mardi-gras celebrants start becoming statistics, same for Florida (late to close beaches - still open mid march).
Of course a lot of those people were visitors that then returned home, spreading infection as they went (two weeks spring break, not enough time for symptoms to show)
Talk about Typhoid Mary, each of those dots could be an infected person, and this doesn't count the encounters between these people and others on the way home.
I expect a similar picture from Mardi-Gras ...
So the national picture is muddier than state by state data.
The scary part is how this data is collected.
Enjoy

I did see a comment that 38% of Americans thought it came from the beer, but I haven't fact-checked it, it sounds like a made up statistic ...

But I don't doubt that some did think there was a connection.

Well for us non Americans, its hard to believe that the people that voted for trump don think that those dammed Chinese poisoned their corona beer with covid 19. Common they voted for trump they'l believe anything.

This is Holy Week and attendance for Holy Week will be surprisingly strong. After all, that is what Jesus would do.
