Re: status: 4 sobering days at hospital
I know this isn'[t the place for it but I have to say that it was capitalism that created the wealth of America and socialism will bring jus down to poverty. How I wish you guys would wake up. Capitalism is freedom, it allows that human ingenuity that is producing the needed masks. Socialism kills such human endeavors.
Oh well. yes, it must have been scary, too many symptoms similar to this virus, and in a person who has had cancer very very scary. SO glad it was nothing worse, RAZD. You are one of the engines of EvC if I mayh put it that way.

It's work and innovation that creates wealth. It's social principles that distribute the wealth and use it to make more. Regulated capitalism seems to produce the best balance of wealth generation, distribution and overall wellbeing.
The USA like all democracies practices regulated capitalism in a pleural economy, the degree of regulation and social principles applied is at the extreme end of the curve compared to others, but it's still has many social systems.
You continue to deliberately confuse socialism with communism. I wonder why you do that?

I'll go with regulated capitalism. But socialism IS just soft communism. Given time that is what it will become.

So now you have to explain why capitalism needs regulating. Sounds suspiciously like you want to prevent a few people from controlling all of the wealth instead of just most of it.
But socialism IS just soft communism.
Obvious garbage. Read a dictionary.
Given time that is what it will become.
Also garbage but never mind, until democratic socialism turns itself into a totalitarian dictatorship, let's not call it communism, is it a deal?

Re: status: 4 sobering days at hospital
Yes capitalism needs to be regulated because humanity IS fallen and prone to the selfish misuse of ANYTHING. At least capitalism is usually only corruptible in limited ways, but socialism is government power that can tyrannize the whole nation. So capitalism needs to be restrained where too much power in the hands of fallen people can hurt others, employees or even competitors. Of course it has to be restrained. Not gutted however, which is what the Left wants to do to all free enterprise. And once socialism takes the reins of government forget all individual freedoms, they're gone, kaput, and we're left with a destroyed economy in which the basic necessities are no longer easily accessible. Venezuela, any Communist regime. The sad situation of Cuba. The Left is blind to the truth.
Oh and Overregulation is one of the tools of socialism which we've been suffering from, that Trump has finally loosened.

Congratulations, you're now a democratic socialist - a bloody extreme one but still someone that agrees that the state should prevent individuals doing anything they want.
And maybe you don't agree with some forms of distributing wealth but I guess you agree that those with most of it should pay more than those with the least - you don't, I assume want a poll tax? After all tythingnis biblical.

unfortunate digression continued
I believe Bernie Sanders has dibs on "democratic socialist" and that means I ain't no democratic socialist.
Regulated capitalism will do me. He ain't no capitalist no matter how you cut it. He's an Old Red Commie.

socialist
Like with any philosophy there are a range of opinions which can all be grouped under one label.
Bernie is on, to my mind, a bit of an extreme end, but his basic policies are middle mainstream in all of northern Europe, Britain, Canada and most of the OECD though I"m not able to pick and choose others.
Pretty much all of those countries (certainly Canada) are much more successful countries that are much better to live in than the USA. The US is demonstrating it's dysfunction right now. Just compare the way our politicians are co-operating and the resultant much lower infection and death rates here. We are winning you are f***ing up!

time to shut down unfortunate digression
I believe Bernie Sanders has dibs on "democratic socialist" and that means I ain't no democratic socialist.
Bernie is no different than FDR, one of the greatest and most popular presidents. You are benefiting from some of FDR's programs, democratic socialist programs, and that means that you are an active social democrat.
Regulated capitalism will do me.
That is democratic socialism doing the regulation. That's how it works in the countries Ned mentioned.
But I think we are at the point of endless, pointless quibbling with little new information added, so it's time to shut this digression down.
Thanks.
