Re: The Right Side Gets it Right
Just because I talk about different aspects of my financial situation in different contexts
You talked about exactly the same aspects and said very different things about them.
At least one was a lie, convenient to the point you wanted to make.

Re: Red baiting
Sanders is a Democratic Socialist, no matter how hard you try to redefine words.
quote:
Democratic socialism is a political philosophy supporting political democracy within a socially owned economy, with a particular emphasis on workers' self-management and democratic control of economic institutions within a market socialist economy or some form of a decentralised planned socialist economy.
Remember all the times you said "there's no law against..." only to be shown the laws) against... ? Same thing here.

Re: Red baiting
Ah, as long as it's wingnuts red-baiting it doesn't count.
What actual evidence do you have that Bernie's a communist?
Didn't think so.

Re: Red baiting
As usual you're confused.
Did Bernie Sanders 'Honeymoon' in Soviet Russia? | Snopes.com
quote:
Mostly False
What's True
Jane Sanders and then-Mayor Bernie Sanders traveled to the Soviet Union shortly after their wedding as part of a government trip to establish a sister-city relationship between Burlington, Vermont, and Yaroslavl. Sanders has previously joked that this trip was a "strange honeymoon."
What's False
This trip was not a "honeymoon" in the traditional sense and did not occur during the "height of the cold war." The purpose of this trip was to establish a sister city in Russia, not for the newlyweds to enjoy a romantic getaway. Bernie and Jane Sanders took their real honeymoon in St. Lucia in the Caribbean the following year.
So, no, it's not a clue about his political affiliation.
You do realize that per that "logic" Trump's a commie?

How to handle the problem
White House Removes Public Health Experts from Coronavirus Discussions - Union of Concerned Scientists
quote:
The White House held dozens of meetings about coronavirus response that excluded government experts because the discussions were unnecessarily classified over the objections of HHS Secretary Alex Azar, reports Reuters. Experts were not just barred from speaking openly about what we knew about the emerging pandemic. Apparently, they weren’t even allowed in the room.
It is not normal to classify discussions about a response to a public health crisis, an unnamed official from the Republican George W. Bush administration told the wire service. Yet this is President Trump’s approach to nearly every public health and environmental threat: find some way to exclude the experts, stop them from speaking publicly, and make decisions in a vacuum. The deliberate sidelining of public health experts and science leads to bad policy, and ultimately, to more sickness and death.

Re: Red baiting
You doubt it because you reject everything that doesn't fit your worldview. Reality doesn't matter to you. It's from Snopes. They have a well-earned reputation for accuracy and impartiality. They expend lots of effort maintaining that.
It's just the facts. Bernie traveled to Russia on business. Not a honeymoon.
Your link offers a quote from Trump’s national security advisor calling the trip a honeymoon. What does he know?
A trip immediately after a wedding is not necessarily a honeymoon. But Bernie's later trip to St. Lucia was his honeymoon.
ABE Is there some issue with him socializing?

Re: Trump Refuses Responsibility for Extant Policies
As usual, nobody's been able to identify the alleged problem regulations.
Of course, the press did identify his lies in the press conference

Arguing that Republicans couldn't manage an economy if they wanted to
Trump Is Running a Pandemic Response Like a Business, With Disastrous Results
quote:
At every step of the way, Trump and the conservative media have treated the coronavirus as a PR problem, a political problem, and a business problem. They have tried to downplay the severity of the disease, tell people to continue life like everything is normal, continue flying and going on cruise lines, and boost the markets however possible. Friday’s bizarre press conference was little more than an infomercial for some of the top health-related businesses in the Dow Jones average, with a parade of CEOs talking about their commitment to doing vague somethings about the pandemic right before the closing bell. It worked, at least for now: the Dow surged as a result of the upbeat corporate presentation. For weeks now the administration has slow-played testing under the theory that lower reported numbers would somehow look better and magically change the actual reality on the ground until the problem went away.
Like so much of modern American business culture, the ethic here is short-sighted and self-serving at best, and cruel, callous, and malevolent at worst. Today’s fast-moving capital markets are explicitly designed to be reactive rather than proactive, and every incentive built into them is to push for growth at all costs. Problems are meant to be pushed to the side and out of sight so the good times can keep rolling at the top; inconvenient costs are externalized and socialized on the backs of workers, the impoverished, and the environment. In the best of times, this dynamic creates massive inequalities and injustices that the market doesn’t notice, because the victims most affected are insignificant toand go unnoticed bythe invisible hand. In the worst of times, however, it utterly hobbles a society’s ability to respond to crises that require active management before they can be directly felt in the marketplace.

Re: Arguing that Republicans couldn't manage an economy if they wanted to
The Friday news conference was a shit show, with Trump lying his ass off and the experts flailing to contradict him without angering him.
ABE I note you have nothing to say about Republican inability to manage an economy.

This is what the "right side" of the "news" has wrought
Worker threw exception | www.rawstory.com | Cloudflare
quote:
A new Economist/YouGov poll of American voters has found that Fox News viewers are far more likely than consumers of other news outlets to be unconcerned about the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the poll, just 38 percent of Fox News viewers say they’re worried about the virus, compared to 74 percent of MSNBC viewers, 71 percent of CNN viewers, and 68 percent of people who watch broadcast network news.
Additionally, writes The Economist’s G. Elliott Morris, just 30 percent of Fox viewers believe that the virus will cause a recession, compared to 75 percent of CNN viewers and 73 percent of MSNBC viewers. These views on the virus come at a time when even Trump-friendly economists are saying that the economy will contract in the coming months and result in devastating job losses.
Many observers on the internet were shocked at the new poll and some suggested labeling Fox News as a threat to public health.

Right-wingers spread virus
One of several similar news stories. Can't tell if it's doing harm but it damn sure isn't helping.
