I wonder how many clerics (and their parishioners) notice the irony when they close their churches or cancel services because of the coronavirus. Apparently they are convinced that their all-powerful god is powerless against complex molecules.

"Takes a licking and keeps on ticking."
the New Arab site reports
Pilgrims to religious shrines in Iran have reportedly attempted to defy fears about the novel coronavirus by licking religious shrines to prove that they will not get sick.
A video posted to twitter shows three people, including one who appears to be a child, licking the glass coverings and metal grilles at religious shrines in Qom and Mashhad.
Qom, which is a prominent centre of religious pilgrimage for Shia Muslims, is also the epicentre of the virus in Iran.
"Stop playing with people’s beliefs, coronavirus is nothing in the Shia shrines, one man is recorded saying at the Fatima Masumeh shrine in Qom, in response to calls for authorities to close pilgrimage sites amid the outbreak.
"Im licking this and I don't care what happens," another man is shown saying, before licking a metal grille housing a prominent grave site.
What did Phat say about idiots in post#4?

Desparately seeking a silver lining!
Will this resolve the problems with Social Security and Medicare funds being depleted by 2034 (or whatever the new estimate is)?

Will Covid-19 save lives?
In 1989 the San Francisco bay area was hit with the Loma Prieta earthquake. 55 people were directly killed by the earthquake including several killed by the collapse of an elevated freeway. But the total death toll for that and that following few weeks was actually significantly reduced. This was due to reduced driving, people being more attentive to their activities, and the increased police presence (in part to counter any looting that might occur in evacuated areas) as well as reduced crime overall.
I’m guessing we’ll see the same effect occurring with the Covid-19, and maybe to an even greater extent. Reduced travel, and people avoiding outdoor activity should significantly reduce opportunities for accidents and other harmful events. Please don’t misunderstand me: I’m not trying to find a silver lining or anything positive about this pandemic. The financial and societal impacts are horrific and will be long lasting. I am just pointing out some facts that are rarely mentioned.

An Easter Miracle!
How appropriate that on Easter we should see that Brad McFall has yet arisen.
