Sounds Like Me
I was just telling jar why I didnt trust the evidentialists...and then moved on to your new topic. Lo and behold!
Here's The Real Reason Why Some People Still Think Climate Change Isn't Happening
Article writes:
People deny the climate crisis because, to them, it just feels wrong. (...)
Denial happens when climate science rubs us up the wrong way. Instead of making us want to arrest the climate crisis, it makes us resist the very thought of it because the facts of anthropogenic global heating clash with our personal projects.
It could be that the idea of climate change is a threat to our worldview. Or it could be that we fear society's response to climate change, the disruption created by the transition to a low-emissions economy.
Either way, climate change becomes such an "inconvenient truth" that, instead of living with and acting upon our worries, we suppress the truth instead.
This reasoning is also why I reject jar and ringos plain reading of the Bible. It is a threat to my world view. There is no way I would be happy if God were just a character in a book. I don't trust human nature and I don't trust humans having the innate intelligence to survive and build a brave new world free of gods and religions.
Personally, in a pragmatic sense, I believe that the whole argument between liberals and conservatives really isn't whether or not climate change is happening. (Though some claim it is)
It is really about who gets to provide the solution: The Private Sector, mainly conservative, who are already buying up the land where the new sea level will be...and the dreaded liberal public sector...where the rules and guidelines will be mandated by government...which the conservatives do not want.

Denial Is A Polluted River In Egypt
Alex CaledinWhy "deny" climate change and evolution?
Because we do not want our lifestyles to change. My sister is like a cop, plucking every plastic bottle out of the trash and placing it in recycling. I dont want to take the time to do this. Perhaps it needs to be made habitual through some sort of positive reinforcement. If they gave me a decent rebate, I'd be more inclined to do it. I had dreams and ideas of how the future would unfold. More and more, the problems and challenges loom ever larger and more urgent. This applies to spirituality and a needed change in human behvior as well as in regards to climate change and human involvement.
Not because scientists made a mistake but because those things do not matter that much.
I think that the evidence shows that humanity and the earths capacity to support us anywhere near the lifestyles we have become used to having is ending. Period. And this is indeed an inconvenient truth. No wonder some folks want the rapture! They wanna get outta Dodge while the sun is still out.
AC writes:
Evolutions may be generated in a single act of God, and any climate change can be reversed at any moment.
Granted God is a game changer IF He chooses to simply recuse humans from their mistakes. I see little evidence that He is doing this apart from renewing our minds to think smarter. And what good is a thought without action? I'm getting old and in the way. I have little energy to start scrubbing the planet clean.
